Been nearly 7 months now since the announcement of RE leaving and no still LTN route.

With MAN due to start in 2 weeks time, does anyone have any info or insight to what may happen in the near future?

Thanks - 78W

I see the airport is losing its MD to a job in the Department of Transport, I wonder does he know something regarding future funding for the airport that made his mind up to jump ship? Hopefully not for Waterford's sake...

Sure if funding becomes a problem all it has to do is what Knock has?

Part funding for 150m runway extension has being given by DOT and the runway will now be 1585m.

WATERFORD Airport

Will that 1585m be ASDA or LDA?

ASDA I'd guess. RWY 21 still has the 143m threshold.

The extension will be on the 03 end as there is some sort of work done there already.

New lighting system on the 21 end too.

London

Flybe to Luton seems the logical & obvious option for a connection between Waterford & London. It would presumably involve Flybe overnighting an aircraft in Waterford for an early morning departure, presumably with up to 2 flights per day like Aer Arran used to operate in the past?

Old news, and Ryanair don't operate from Waterford anyway, so it really doesn't matter what their customer service is like if you live in the SE.

Any more rumours on if anyone will start a London service?

Obviously Flybe are now out of the picture but surely there is an opportunity for another carrier to make the route work again?

Nope. All I know is that talks are still ongoing, but I have not one idea to who the airline it. Hopefully something soon.

Could be wrong but expect the timetable to only reflect 3 weekly, loads are low enough on it and BHX much better not seeing an increase.

Let's hope we get news on a London service soon.

When is the runway extension completed & what size aircraft will it then be able to accommodate?

Other than EIR, Cityjet are the only airline that I could see trying this route. They have picked up flybe's old Glasgow to Cardiff service recently so might consider other available pairs like a Waterford route to London City perhaps?
