Its operated by ATR 42 the route must be doing well as Aer Arann added an extra weekly fight for Aug and early Sep.

ATR 42 - 46 seats - 90%LF
ATR 42 - 48 seats - 86%LF

Not sure which one RE use on the route.

My error, thought RE were still using 72. Looking back at CAA stats this July isn't far off past performance. Either way it's still in their booking engine so pure speculation.

Aer Arann's 42 fleet are all 48 seater aircraft. EI-CVR was the only odd ball with 50 seats.

Hopefully Loganair will look at keeping a scottish connection.

ATI News had a quote from Logainair saying they will do 5 weekly to daily depending on seasonal demand on Donegal - Glasgow, so the route will remain as such just swapping over to Loganair.

Re DUB-CFN and GLA

Is it going to be a DUB based a/c?? Or will there be a CFN based A/C?? Just curious.

All RE routes form Donegal are dropped for 2 November. Loganair due to take over GLA.

Kerry - Dublin times

KIR 07.30 - DUB 08.30
DUB 11.10 - KIR 12.05
KIR 12.30 - DUB 13.30
DUB 19.00 - KIR 19.55

As GWY is closing would expect MAN to be operated at 12.30 after Christmas.

Is Galway airport closing? I thought they had a survival plan in place for new investors to buy the airport

Overnighting in CFN, flying CFN-DUB-CFN-GLA then (same or different aircraft) GLA-CFN-DUB-CFN.

I would have hoped for a flight late Friday night or even a late Sunday evening flight to suit a weekend trip.

Who wants to leave Kerry after a weekend at home at 12:30 on a Sunday morning.

I would have thought the Monday 0730 hrs would be good .....straight into work from the Airport. That gives you a full Sat & Sun in the Kingdom!!!

I am always afraid of flying back on the Monday morning in case delays are incurred.

I would pay more for a late Sunday evening flight to definitely be back in time!

(4 weekly - daily depending on time of year)
34 seater aircraft.
Weekend times will be slightly different.

Dublin - Donegal - departing 09.25 arriving 10.25
Donegal - Dublin - departing 17.00 arrving 18.00

They'd successfully shoot themselves in the foot if they did. Paris to any Irish route - AF/KL will shoot them down a peg or two.

1) They'll struggle to get respective slots
2) AF/KL will shoot them down a peg or two and push on Cityjet frequencies and introductions to do so.

I doubt it'll happen and if it'll do, it'll be corporate suicide.

It suggested than base plans for SEN have being scrapped and they expect to operate SEN from CDG if thats the base. They could do SNN. Right size aircraft for route/

Just looking at CAA August stats (prov) I see that Ryanair had nice growth on Luton Dublin while Aer Arann saw big declines in Galway and Waterford Luton routes. The declines in Luton Waterford and Galway were approx -10k over last year and FR saw an increase of 7k approx. Take into account Southend routes it makes up some of the Gap for RE but still a good 4k decline overall in the 2 respective GWY and WAT London markets.

SEN Clearly not the hit that they expected with Irish commuters.

Base

That's interesting, but I can't see how AA have the right sized aircraft for a CDG to Ireland network... The ATRs apart from being uncomfortable are at the outer range limits let alone that there is a limited Market...
Also CDG is one of the most expensive airports to operate from? And why would Stobart allow this to happen after bank rolling AA's survival from examinership last year? Makes no sence....

RE's declines at Galway and Waterford this year are quite staggering really - particularly at Galway:

Galway routes - Jan-Jun 2011

Edinburgh <25%
London <27%
Manchester <26%

Waterford routes - Jan-Jun 2011

Birmingham <10%
London Airports <17%
Manchester <24%

...and these are on top of reductions in the previous two years also. It seems that the problem is at the base airports moreso than at Southend, the passenger levy at GWY can't have helped.
