Thomsonfly will be operating 42 weekly departures from NCL, so I hope there is going to be 3 a/c otherwise there just aint enough hours in the day. The 733 a/c is supposedly still in the desert and incidentally NCL is getting a 737-800 for the W06/07 season, together with the usual 757.

And does anyone think that this is the last year of XLA using not their own aircraft at NCL, considering they have ordered brand new 738 and 737-900 a/c?

The 737 that is going to be based at NCL is coming from Easyjet, and is one of the ex Go aircraft.

No I feel that you have this totally wrong !
I do not understand your logic, especially considering weekends when LHR operations can hardly be affected with any route developments at LCY even ignoring seat price differentials. BA's NCL service is geared at predominantly feeding their route structure out of their LHR hub and this is the issue.
BA presumably simply feel that they can obtain more revenue for the use of the LHR slot & aircraft elsewhere. Many of you will appreciate that much of the BA volume in east bound long haul flights depart LHR late PM, and as such if you now wish to fly BA to say SYD on a Saturday, then you will probably have to wait up to 7Hrs 15 min for your flight. C'est la vie you may say, but unless you like shopping then there is minimal terminal seating capacity. You could possibly book a place in a VIP lounge for c.£20 but in my view BA should actually throw this in at least to demonstrate some empathy towards the needs of its paying customers. The slogan "the worlds favourite airline" although long past it's sell by date, wouldn't now stand up to scrutiny in any event, did it ever ?

I take your point....I did cover the slot question in my post, re other years.

Would there be much premium transfer traffic at weekends? maybe that is a factor in the frequency reduction.

B. A. LHR-NCL

Of course the connections issue at Heathrow does not just affect those passengers with B.A. onward connections, there are many other airlines One world and non World partners that use the NCL-LHR to feed there flights. For the last year or so the connection times have been very good indeed What a shame they are going back to the situation we had some time ago, especially at weekends.I reckon passengers may look elsewere. there is nothing worse than coming off a long haul flight to then have to wait 7hrs to get up to NCL.

Looks like Air France and KLM will be the beneficiaries. A bit of an "own-goal" for BA/ONE WORLD, sometimes Management decisions defy logic and common sense.

Is this actually new flying or on behalf of someone else. I thought the summer programme was essentially a swap for Excel?

Great to see a new airline basing out of NCL - I see they are recruiting crew on 6 month contracts initially.

It is a shame XLA wont open a permanent base as FJE are operating Freedom Flight routes - surely they can see the potential??!!

flyjet new base

if flyjet are to open a year round base xla may lose some fantastic cabin crew as most are on temp contract's ... hope xla can source an a/c for winter 2006 and operate these routes themselves would be great to see ncl a permenant base.

I have heard rejoining crews are already planning on leaving as XLA are sending the 734 to NCL for the summer alongside a 757 from Finnair.
Cant see NCL ever being a permanent base and now XLA/Freedom have contracted Flyjet that just about puts the final nail in the coffin

Summer 2006 charter aircraft

That is about it I think - XLA only have the 757 throughout May with the 734 arriving at end of May. A few flights are being covered by a 738 from LGW but the main programme doesnt start until June

Monarch will have the A330 passing through weekly for the POP and 2 X SFB routes.

Do you mean the Finnair 757 will only be there during May then be replaced with the xla 734, or is the Finnair 757 there all season plus an xla 757/734 all season?

The Finnair unit is to be at NCL all summer (from 1st May) with an additional unit being the 734 arriving at end of May. The Finnair unit will be crewed by XLA crew and Finnair flight deck as per previous arrangements with Air Scandic.
