I was reading in the paper today about Travel City Direct pulling their Newcastle - Sanford route this summer. Does this mean one of the weekly Monarch flights will no longer go ahead?

Not sure about this one, I was speaking to a guy quite high up at First Choice holidays and he claims they have more capicity out of NCL now than pre 9/11 when they had a based unit there. Fingers crossed FCA make a return, but I wouldnt hold your breath.

Summer 2007 brochures will probably not be launched until about May/June time....

BA SUMMER LHR SCHEDULES

Have I missed something in an earlier posting?, I note that BA's summer LHR schedule appears to have been revised and now there are one less daily flights in each direction, losing an afternoon flight. More annoyingly this change has resulted in a considerable space between flights on a Saturday PM. Is this merely normal summer operations ?

I noticed this when I was booking my NCL-LHR flight for May last weekend. I think there was a 1430 departure from LHR, but didn't see it listed.

I suggest you get some level of interest in the latter part of this thread or I am going to remove what I simply call drivel.
It applies to a number of posts.

THIS forum is about Airports, Airlines and Routes, NOT for idle chat about uninteresting and senseless information.

Get a grip people.

NCL - LHR

Looks like significant reductions in this service for summer 2006 versus last summer and the current winter schedule. Mon to Fri 6x returns instead of 7. The16 15 to LHR is dropped, so after the 13 55 you have to wait untill 17 45 for the next one(nearly 4 hrs) At weekends it is worse, the current 7, Saturday flights become 4, with timings that leave about 6 hrs between some departures. On Sun the current 6, becomes 5. Altogether a reduction of 9, flights a week.
They seem to be spoiling what is now a very good and heavily used service by the new timings/ frequencys The airport pax stats will certainly be affected by this!.
We have a booking on the 16 15 NCL LHR with an onward connection just after the new timetable starts, it was all booked and confirmed (tickets issued) with Virgin so we await with interest to see what they say and do.

We tried to book this flight several months ago but when they said it would be Excel(Airbus??) we did not proceed. That was after Excel withdrew from long haul!so I am not sure if they ever intended to proceed with it. Or perhaps they did not get enough bookings because the bad P R re Excel long haul has had, and therefore there were not enough bookings to justify a replacement airline.
I understand the 2 Monarch flights remain unaffected.

Thats true, the Thursday and Saturday SFB flights are for other tour operators. I understand FlyJet are getting 2 extra 757s for the Summer season, anyone know where they are coming from?

Just a few comments about the BA NCL - HRW route.

Until summer 2005 BA regularly operated 7 daily flights in the winter and reduced to 6 for the summer when the Heathrow slots could be more profitably utilised.

This year it could be that, with a further route to London (Eastern 4 x daily to London City) aimed at the business market, BA felt that a reduction in frequency was in order.

Yes your right, but some of the timing are poor for onward connections. I understand the lower frequencys also apply to winter 2006/2007. But the Eastern factor does not come into play so much at weekends especially Sat when B A have cut 3 flights.

Winter 2006/7 could change nearer the time....summer 06 was still showing 7 daily till a couple of weeks ago. You are right about the weekends being poor though.
