I think it could be a Monarch 757?
On other news, Swissport have just had another coup, they have been awarded the contract for XLA, commencing April 2006. Meaning Servisair have lost yet another reasonably large contract in as many years.

Anybody got any ideas what HLX are planning for the summer out of NCL? Are the MUC and CGN routes going to return? If I remember rightly the loads were quite good on the routes. It would be a shame if the just stuck to the HAJ especially with the world cup.

As far as I am aware HLX have no plans to return to the Cologne and Munich routes for summer 06. Both routes had good loads but I have no idea what the yields were like. I would hope that some other operator might pick them up in due course.
Don't pin too many hopes on FLYJET, their punctuality record for Summer 05 was worse than Excel.( No.8 out of 8..excel was No.7)

Regardless of the fact that, excel may have been hard work at times, suffering long delays etc it is all very valuable business to the handling agent, business which Servisair at NCL can ill afford to loose. Swissport, formerly Northeast Aviation have grown rapidly at NCL, gaining many new contracts over the past few years. In their humble beginnings they were a small agent, with Servisair handling nearly every carrier that operated into NCL. Servisair have now lost FCA, AEA, BGH, KL, BE, LH, SK and PGT. It seems that the latters service levels have rapidly decreased in previous years and rumour has it some airlines are still not happy with the service. Surely management should be addressing these issues.
The only concern now is that will Swissport be able to cope with an extra 30 flights per week, in addition to other high profile contracts such as BA, TOM and TCX? Plus it is still not confirmed who has FJE and remember they have extra long haul to deal with. And why is it NCL is the only station for the likes of XLA and TOM that Servisair does not handle them?
Is it time for a third agent to set up in NCL to increase competition and possibly service levels?
On other news, the AY 757 operating for XLA will become a UK registered aircraft, making things alot easier for XLA.

I heard a very interesting rumour today that AF and KLM were going to go self handling. Could there be any truth in it? If so could they go as far as take over the SN and BA contracts aswell.

Is self handling not a very expensive move for an airline to make? Generally staff would be employed by the airline, and generally wages tend to be higher and more benefits are offered. I have no doubt that it would definately make service levels rise, but there are a couple of drawbacks. Is there office space available for a control centre and would it be worth the outlay financially for ground equipment etc? However recruiting staff shouldn't be a problem, handling agents wages are low considering what staff cope with and I am sure many existing ground staff would apply to KLM/AF handling, should it happen but I see it as very unlikely.
I would have thought that a company like Menzies or Aviance would be more likely?
I know I posted that the AY 757 would become G reg, heard it through the grapevine (so possibly it may not be correct) but anyone know what reg it will become? G-XLAY?

Excel have lodged their application with the CAA for aircraft for the summer season.
Wet lease one Finnish 757-200 reg. No. OH-LBO or substitute
Extend the wet lease on an Icelandic 737-400 reg. No. TF-ELY or substitute.

Theres no reason why the CAA would not grant both of these requests is there? Both a/c have operated without any major concerns in UK for the past few summers. Will the AY a/c retain the finnish flight crew or will XLA's 757 crew take it over, just wondering considering it has different engines?
Flyjet
Where are FJE getting the extra 757 from? They currently have a fleet of 2, one each in MAN and LGW, so surely they must be acquiring a third 757 for NCL, as their new 767 is being used on other projects and was never intended as a replacement for the 757.

The latest edition (3rd) of the Summer charter programme is on the airport website.
The main changes are the addition of a My Travel flight to Reus on Mondays 1/5/06 - 3/7/06 plus some swapping between A320 and A321 flights in the My Travel programme.
Both of the Pegasus Mon flights to Dalaman have been cancelled.
