LUTON
Looking at the EZY website, and taking random dates in June 06, there are very few flights listed (one or zero). However, the same applies to Stansted.
IMHO they haven't finished loading the schedules yet. Any reductions of this magnitude would imply a major disaster or change in strategy, neither of which seems likely. If Scotland-London flights are to be reduced, I would expect reductions at Stansted due to increased competition from Air Berlin and flyglobespan.
I believe EDI is Luton's busiest route and must handle around 500,000 pax per annum.

Noticed from the prov CAA stats that LTN carried 71k more pax than BHX in Nov, up to 652k, and are very close to overtaking them on the 12 months roll. Can this be right ?. I know it includes ryanair, & the growth rate of some 23% will fall away come Feb, but nevertheless, it still surprised me

easyJet booking engine showing BRS-EDI and BRS-GLA each 3 rotations per day as usual for next summer.
It is inconceivable that LTN and STN would have fewer flights.
As has been it said must be a case of the loading of schedules not yet finished. Ryanair seems to be incomplete on many of its route schedules summer 06. Doubtless the same reason.

Have a feeling the ryan LTN-TSF could be up for the chop. From January, the Tue/Wed flights are nolonger available, and from the 21 Feb there are no flights at all. SO6 is also non-bookable.

I would have thought that if the airline can secure slots out of Stansted, get charged no more than Luton and will be flying routes that are not already served from Essex then Luton will not get a look in.
If on the other hand Luton’s marketing team are on the ball and point out that Luton has the second biggest catchment area in the UK and that its passengers love the wartime spirit singing “We’ll meet again” when travelling the crowded bus to the railway station then there is a chance.
I heard this line might be working on a small French regional airline flying ATR42’s from deepest France so watch this space

Ryanair say this is 200 rotations per month or 1% of the flying programme that is affected.

With all the ryanair S06 flights now on sale, it certainly looks as if the Luton-Treviso is being dropped. No flights whatsoever from the end of Feb & throughout the summer. Will it be replaced by another new route ?

It looks as though the rotation freed by dropping LTN - TSF is being used to fly the second LTN - BGY (so both Bergamo flights will be operated by Luton based aircraft). The rotation freed in Bergamo is then being used to fly a fourth daily BGY - STN from the end of Feb.
So it doesn't look as though LTN will get any more new routes from Ryanair for the time being.
However, with 30 new aircraft to be delivered between September 06 and May 07, there must a fair chance that more routes will be on the way before too long.

Than means Ryanair have reduced capacity in real terms as one of Bergamo and the Shannon were operated by aircraft based at the respective airport, they will be Luton based for S06, so over 100,000 fewer passengers next summer.

I see an easyjet aircraft has had to divert to East Midlands at 22.00 due to fog as they needed 700m. I wonder whether they will be able to hire coaches at short notice for 23.00 on Christmas Eve. Somehow I think it’s going to be a Christmas Day to remember for their passengers.
Snow is forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday, it wasn’t that many years ago that snow fell between Christmas and New Year and brought 3 days of chaos to the airport. Day 1 was spent ploughing the airport but once open there was only one serviceable aircraft de-icer for the whole airport for the next 2 days. Hope they have a spare this year!

Indeed the MAD-LTN has diverted to EMA due to the fog here at LTN. YOu'll be pleased to know that coaches have been oredered for the passnegers and crew and are currently on their way.
The passengers have been looked after and are happy. They may remember having an unscheduled divert but at least we at easyJet have provided transport back to LTN unlike someother airline I could mention!
