Ryanair

With Ryanair this week announcing two new bases in ORK and EMA do we think either NCL or MME will become a base soon?

The only areas of England now without an FR base are the North East and South West. Surely, if applying business logic to such a move they must be actively trying to establish a base within the North East?

Does anyone have any other thoughts?

I guess its always possible.

From what I've heard this week, I'd be VERY surprised if it was MME - I don't think things down here are too great.

I would expect if it comes, NCL will get the nod.

Yours,

A depressed MME fan.

I think it will be NCL, but not yet. I think there is still another route to come from FR.

What have you heard this week? August was easily the best month on record so not sure of your source and not seen any announcement to suggest otherwise?

Easy to turn round a 738 in 15 minutes when you have so few pax. Why so many cheap seat deals to CIA from MME? If MME is anything like NCL, then 15 mins is exactly how long it takes to finds a set of steps, put them on the a/c, confirm with the crew zero pax in either direction, remove steps, find a pushback tug, towbar and crew and push the a/c.

FR probably waiting to see what happens with a much rumoured change of handling agent at NCL before commiting to any base there.

Ibiza is well-known as a party island, but also has great beaches, making it ideal for a family holiday too, while those heading to Palma can holiday with celebrities including Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas, who own a home there.
LOL as if the £29.99 brigade will see anything of CZJ!

Blah,

I've heard some news direct this week which has lead me to this conclusion. Apologies for not naming the source (I know this doesn't help you or validate my point) but this is someone's job and I won't do that.

August was indeed the best month and I don't disagree with that. And you won't see an announcement from MME saying "things aren't that good here"; its not great PR.

Blah

August was easily the best month on record
"Best month" for pax numbers, is this consistent with "Best month" for profitablity & an encouraging outlook ? I made a posting on the MME thread yesterday which takes a more pragmatic view of the situation.

To be pedantic, flybe actually brand themselves as a low fares airline, not low cost.

And we don't actually have Thomsonfly low cost here yet (not properly), as that is primarily their 737 operation, not the 75s.

Had EUJet not gone t/u, you could have added them to the list.

Some very good Pax figures out of NCL for August, particularly good are:-

Milan...............10,126
Paris...............17,080
Copenhagen.....2,426
Dublin..............11,545

The 3 HLX routes.....Hanover 3837 still doing well and Cologne at 3332 (best figure yet) and Munich 2748 (best so far) makes the decision to drop the latter two routes seem strange.

Copenhagen must be heading towards double daily soon.

Still seems slow progress on the NCL - JFK licence & marketing of the service.
I note from earlier link that some progress is being made today in that the initial application to the Dept of Transportation July 27th has been withdrawn in view of the determination that AA do not need separate authority for the NCL -JFK city pair.
So where to & how long now ?
