Devil AT LAST!!!!

At last there is some competition on the JHB - LOS route.

Hopefully we will see a drastic improvement in SAA in the following areas:

• Poor cabin service

• Rotten attitude of the cabin attendants

• Poor serviceability of the old 747's or hopefully a change to a newer aircraft

• Inability to sticking to scheduled slot times and departure times

• Preferential treatment of mates in LOS with regards to booked seating

• People left stranded in LOS and JHB due to industrial action

• People left stranded in LOS and JHB due to due to “unforeseen reasons, overbooking and factors beyond their control”

• People that have done class upgrades from economy to business with Voyager and never gets them as business class are always "fully booked"

• And so the list goes on and on and on.....

Thinking again, why go through all the aggravation of flying with SAA. I need not be treated like a second class citizen by my countries national airline.

Flying Virgin, in a new aircraft, where even the entertainment system works seems more comfortable and I know for a fact their tickets are cheaper than SAA's and their frequent flyer program is better...

Seems like the way to go!

WELCOME TO SOUTH AFRICA VIRGIN NIGERIA!

Rani,
I find it quite disturbing that you would call me a hijacker.
I also think that such an attack on me is totally uncalled for!
If your immediate concern is not pay,and happens to be something else, then hold your horses mate!
You have no right whatsoever to get on my case.
I think you should be more careful the way you speak to others mate!
I owe you nothing! And please keep your keep your trap in check man, i'm also entitled to talk about what i want, and not stick to what interests you only!
For your information, you posted your reply on the wrong forum mate!? You should have sent it to 'Developments" and not south africa mate, try to read before you type! This only tells me what type of pilot you must be! RTFQ!!!

LJT I have only been upset by your postings only once and that was because of the tone not the content.

Also you should remember the etiquette of pprune about identifying people. If someone wants you to know who they are they will prob pm you with their contact details, if they don't you shud respect that and leave your guessing in your mind not keep guessing on an open forum. There are people on pprune who I know, and who know exactly who I am. Should I wish that list to include you I will let you know.

Well as far as i know, the hiring for this year is over.
Seems the grass might actually be greener on the other side.
I hear more interviews will be taking place in the new year. Word has it that they still need over 100 pilots.
Cheers.

Well said recuperator - well said.

I for one will make more use of them now as SAA needs a good wake up call on the route that they had the monopoly on for so long !

Devil IDIOTS!!!

Another good reason not to fly SAA from next year onwards between JHB -LOS. SAA's schedule as from January 2006 as follows:

-SA058 DAYS -2--5—JNB 12:30 ABJ 17:30

ABJ 18:30 LOS 21:05

-SA059 DAYS -2--5—LOS 22:15 ABJ 22:15

ABJ 23:30 JNB 08:30+1

-SA060 DAYS -3---7 JNB 14:55 LOS 19:50

-SA061 DAYS -3---7 LOS 21:20 ACC 21:30

ACC 22:30 JNB 06:30+1

Thus from next year SAA have 1 direct flight between LOS - JHB. All the other flights will be with stop overs via Abijan in the Ivory Coast and Accra in Ghana.

Traditionally the SAA flights between JHB-LOS were always fully booked.

Perhaps they know they will be losing lots of customers with Virgin Nigeria also on the direct route and are now trying to fill seats, via Accra and Abijan.

I don’t think so! Who wants to pay more and then have to do a stop over in another African country. All you do is increase the risks of something going wrong and getting stuck where you don’t want to be...

If they just improved their service and got rid of the useless" lets do you a favour by serving you" hosties, their seats would be full anyway.

But I suppose it is just another SAA "brainwave" and just another simple way of irritating and frustrating their passengers.

In actual fact, it seems that SAA is practically begging customers to fly the direct route between JHB - LOS and basically offering their customers to Virgin Nigeria. Where is the business sense in that?

Maybe I am stupid. Am I missing something here?

Lightbulb

I might be in trouble again ... but shall I give SN a wake up call ?

In fact I just remembered he said he is waiting for equipment to arrive today as the be better connected to the net.

So who knows maybe Surely Not might make your day and have something to discuss about

In the mean time. Lay back, relax and enjoy the cricket (If you are a Paki supporter )

Cheers

Virgin Nigeria applying for BOM and DEL

There are reports that route rights are being requested from the Nigerian and Indian governments for:

LOS-Dubai-Delhi (twice weekly)
LOS-Dubai-Mumbai (twice weekly)

Flights may start July 2006.

Bellview now running for its money! Can the Lagos-Mumbai market accomodate Bellview (twice weekly) and Virgin Nigeria(twice weekly)?

I believe it can if the UAE and India grant 5th freedom rights between Dubai and India.

I hear the first three sets of B737 crew have already finished training and currently in los.
The airplane is said to be on ground los too.
I wonder what the plan is? Anyone?
I would have imagined that the crew would have been put to commercial use by now.
Some of us would like to at least to see our boys airbourne.

New Rev flights

I guess flights to Kano, Dakar, and Abidjan are in the pipeline, using 5N-VNA.
Problem is the airline is headless at the moment, with Graham Keddie making all the announcements. Priority #1 is to appoint a new CEO !

Smile Route Developments

Read on their website, that Abuja is to be upped to 5 daily flights (from 3), Port Harcourt up to 3 (from 2), and the daily Douala flights from Lagos shall stop 3 times a week in Port Harcourt. All effective December 16, 2005.

Who would want to fly alternatives now on these routes

No news yet on Dakar, Kano or Abidjan!
