1- Fleet Status (3rd A320 anyone?)
2- What VK is doing (or not doing) to get the disgrace called 18L operational and stable again, and the 18R finally re-open.
3- Why G0 is flying to London daily while VK is still limping on 3 weekly flights using WET leased equipment.

Thanks Gunss

VK schedules

According to VK's webpage:

LOS-JNB
VK303 2320 0605 1--4-6- A340 from 24NOV

LOS-LGW
VK293 2335 0530 1---5-7 A340 from 24NOV

Above means 2 A340s are in operation (look at Monday takeoff times)

Anybody can shed some light on above? Is VK boosting its A340 fleet as early as November or is this an error?

I see VK is moving ops to LGW on 24Nov coinciding with the new schedule to JNB and VS is cancelling LGW-PHC in favour of VK's LGW-LOS-PHC on which VS pax are being rebooked.

Also VS are due (according to jethros) to take delivery of G-VWKD (346) this month so presumably this frees up a 343 (another early -311 frame like G-VHOL or G-VSEA possibly) for VK?

New CEO for Virgin Nigeria soon

Simon Harford, current CEO, is either quiting or being replaced, as the airline has just announced a new CEO is being recommended to the Board of Directors. The proposed new CEO, Mr. Conrad Cliffod, has served in Virgin Atlantic Airways as Vice President of Global Strategy and Planning.

He's expected to present his new strategies for the airline shortly.

Any further insider information?

Reshuffle

Press reports today suggest the CEO Mr. Simon Harford will leave his position, possibly ceding it to a Mr. Conrad Clifford (ex VS executive).
I wonder wether this was voluntary or forced upon him by the Board. Perhaps Nigeria was too much for him to handle?
In any case I think the new CEO should be strongly charactered and have a bold vision and an aggressive plan for the carrier.

Question

Has anyone flown on the VK LOS-LGW route ? If so, how does it compare with the VS side ? I've done that before and it was very good, service excellent, punctual etc. Just wondered how Virgin Nigeria compared.

Cheers,

NEO

I hear the service is the same, all cabin staff trained to same level of competency.
The aircraft (A343) have a smaller business class with bucket seating compared to the bedlike ones on the A346's of VS.
Thats all i know so far?!
I also hear that VK have upped the salaries comparably!
I think they are now behaving,Sn, any input?

VK Cabin crew are putting in their very best but there needs to be need improvement in the fineness of cabin service management. Things like shouting across the cabin to a fellow colleague to attract their attention. When using the passenger call bell can be used to attract attention and hand signals used to pass on the message, we are not in Obalende market.
LJT the salaries have been upped making it slightly below European standards. A good try from VK, this will now let pilots take them more seriously now.
LJT this should make you and those that turned them down earlier think of taking up the new improved offer. LJT SN might still be digging for information on details of the new pay offer he will get to you when he is good and ready.

Hi Guys,

After reading all the mails does it mean that the general concensus is that tha "LOCALS" who took the job let down their collegues, or as i think did a good thing by trying to change the situation from within.....
