Ryanair DEC with ICAO ATPL

Does anyone know how this process works with the IAA Validation? With the right to work in the UK, would this validation be temporary until you've written the exams? What is the pay (go easy! I know this topic leads to many opinions). As far as bases go, it asks to select 3. Are they generally honoured?

Thanks

As far as I’m aware the IAA validation only for U.K. licence holders for 500 hours at FR and then IAA will issue ATPL.

not sure if the IAA are extending that to the whole ICAO ATPL as I think they’re doing it to allow FR some breathing space to crew the U.K. bases whilst everyone gets their licences in order. Basically something FR should have prepared for months and months ago but have only just realised recently.

Bases will be honoured, normally, first preference for FO (even if they try and force you to STN) but the contract states they can base you anywhere they want if they need to….

pay is 50k basic plus extras. 70k if you do 850 hours. Includes your pension, leave, allowances ect

Rumours of a huge pay rise coming as they’re losing FOs at an unseen rate and having to cancel Type Rating courses as most DEPs don’t show up and instead head to DHL, J2, BA & Virgin.

currently FR FOs are the lowest paid >10T jet gig in the U.K. …..

This isn’t correct. Loganair, West Atlantic, Aurigny to name a few…?

Bases honoured. Ha ha ha. Good one. Recently yes they have been trying to give people their bases. Loads of people they don’t though. Many times people jump seating home. Some been waiting years to move. Then they hear someone straight out of LT get that base.

As JFO UK bank on £3200ish after tax. Couple hundred up or down on that.
FO peeps few hundred extra on that is what I have seen and been told. Yea if you run £70k through a tax calculator it says you should get £4K. You won’t be getting that as FO.

Not the lowest paid gig in UK but it’s a reason along with many other reasons why people are leaving in droves.

In the past the licence was validated by the IAA for 12 months , during which time you had to pass your 14 ATPL exams.

Can't really see an increase in pay for aircrew. Enough cadets in pipeline that enable FR to keep their precious profits in view. Can't blame them they run a very tight ship and will continue whilst they see their management profiles work. Even though they are losing many to other operators they will continue to keep wages and conditions at their present levels. They have a very solid conveyer belt of newbies coming on stream. It's their way.

Are you sure there’s enough cadets coming through to keep the U.K. bases full? Judging by the DEFO recruitment ongoing I’d say they’re getting quite desperate for the U.K. bases

With amount of RYR U.K. Pilots Jet2 are currently hoovering up, I’d say they were are certainly are going to be struggling a bit. DEC/DEFO. recruitment backs that up.

Strange that there isn't a post outlining present UK crew salary. Is it that there are too many contracts about and differing pay scales for FO and Skippers.
There is rumoured to be some pay increase in the short term to help stem the outflow.

Pretty certain that it would help prospective lookers in Europe who have the right to work in UK.

I believe it’s around £50k basic for FO and £105 for captain plus around £6k to cover stuff (uniform , insurance etc.) that other companies would probably offer on top of salary ….then about £14k sector pay per annum . I don’t work for Ryanair so I can’t vouch for how precise those figures are for U.K. base

£105,000 basic
£6000 allowance
£2897 Annual leave
£14714 sector pay (average 850 hours)
£8000 pension

New entrant joiners deduct £13500 year one from basic then £6750 year two

No pay review on the horizon

Well that was pretty straightforward. Ask a question and get multiple answers from great posters. I am sure this sort of open information will help our colleagues and future colleagues make better informed decisions. Salute to all responders.
