Gentlemen,

I am not addressing anyone in particular, please take no offense!

It just happens that the pilots and cabin crew live in distant galaxies far-far away. I bet most of those who are bashing her for what she did have no idea of what it is to work in customer service and what it is to work as CC for Emirates. When you guys complain about long hours etc, your complaints are 100% legitimate! However if you want to get into CC shoes.. on top of hours add a gigantic load of sh*t coming from every single direction, everyone is against you and all the rules and regulations seem to be written in a way to screw you over, like whatever happens you will always be held responsible, no matter what is the outcome. I don't know if the pilots work in this sort of environment, perhaps you guys do, but the CC is under constant pressure!

She was putting it back into the bottle as a normal practice. This is what CC do to gash it later. The company doesn't provide conditions to "safely" gash colored drinks. If you use the little sink in the galley, you can be reported (it seems to corrode AC's belly when the liquid is out of the AC) You have to toss it to the toilet that may be busy.. If it is, you can't wait because.. you will be reported for being slow in service. On top of that add the ever-complaining pax, the cabin seniors waiting for the opportunity to write on you, etc. So the CC is constantly "trapped". No matter what you do, the day will come when you are unlucky and get busted doing something wrong, because anything you do can somehow be turned against you.

The pilots get WAY more respect from the company than the crew does and unfortunately most of the cockpit guys simply can't imagine how it is to work in that cabin.. I am not saying this to start some discussion on equality or something, I am just telling it to those who start judging fellow colleagues without any idea of what those people go through.

PS: I'm not sure of those who seemed to criticize her are pilots to start with

I don't condone the re-use of champagne or anything else by any means, but it was never remotely demonstrated that that was what was taking place. Just another social media warrior with a mobile, a twitter account, and something to prove.
I do not eat airplane food...first class or otherwise. Occasionally I'll eat a few nuts and fruits but thats about it. I have seen airline catering kitchens first hand and lets just say it's not my "thing".

However, on your point about the machbous...so was it paraded around the cabin offered to other passengers and put back in the oven or did it come directly from the kitchen to the linen?

Look...if you want to eat re-packaged food, wine or otherwise then please don't let my comments get in the way...go for it man, what works for you may not work for others, I just won't do it.

Go for it Jack...drink all the second hand wine you like...I wouldn't do it just like I wouldn't eat off someones else's plate. Some people will eat out out dumpsters...some won't.

Different strokes for different folks...

The victim in this sorry debacle was the cabin crew member doing the pouring. She was almost certainly carrying out normal practice or doing what she was told by her senior. She'll be lucky if she escapes with her job because she was the one who was caught. Being in such an enlightened part or the world with absolutely no recourse to any form of employment protection she'll have to take the hit. Meanwhile, the suits in the office will be working out how they can stick the glitter back on the broken toy. The guilty are the ones who put pressure on those on the bottom of the pile in a pathetic attempt to save a penny or two. Real luxury costs a fortune, bling can be had for a few quid in Argos. But we now know more about EK's true values.

AAR : "it's not about cutting costs but to work smarter"

Idea: let's be smart and fire half the oxygen hoarders and Costa brigade across HQ. Incompetent staff who can't turn on PCs, name one f&$@ing plane online, won't respond to roster changes, coordinators who can't spell - that's being smart. And then bring in genuine smart people.

You sound quite precious. But unless you're living on your own compound, eating your organically self-grown vegetables and free-range whatnot, you're only kidding yourself if you think you're not eating X parts of mouse dropping allowable per Y pounds of your mixed nuts or dried fruit. You know that bag wasn't always sealed, right? Same goes for your 99.99% of imported food in Dubai, no matter how much you got gouged for that bundle of kale at the DM Waitrose. It amuses me to think of some porn-stash hair-netted worker having a good sneeze as "your" bag of nuts goes by on the belt...

No one said anything about dumpsters or recycled wine, as noted - silly.

Relax Nolimit...no need to get your panties in a twist.

And yes, I was the one who made the statement which is exactly what it says...some people will eat off the floor, others eat leftovers from pizza boxes, others won't. I don't care what or where a person eats, drinks or otherwise. All I'm saying is that I don't eat airplane food except for on occasion when a SEALED bag of nuts comes to the flight deck.

Silly ?...I don't think so...and I'm not calling you silly for your opinion. As I mentioned before: Different strokes for different folks...or another way to say it "to each there own" in case you didn't understand the term.

And the final point in case you missed it from before:

-IT LOOKS BAD FROM A PUBLIC POINT OF VIEW-

Recycled wine....great selling point.

Is it really being recycled though ? Perhaps as ex cc stated it is put back in the only suitable container , a bottle , for future disposal in the lav ... Who knows ? seems like one of several plausible explanations .

Jack,

True, we don't really know. I've asked a few pursers what the policy is and the answer is "there isn't any". She went on to explain that many crew are so afraid to be written up for everything that they do whatever their seniors tell them on the day. The biggest issue is how this looks to premium passengers many of whom would be aghast to see something like that. Even if its being poured into a bottle for disposal, it just looks cheap and no one really knows what happens next. Is it served again? Is going to a crew room? Is it being thrown away? Is it being served to Y class?. EK is all about brand and image etc. and this kind of behavior obviously bodes against the perception they want to portray. If I was a high level service delivery manager, I'd be embarrassed.

So was the poor girl sacked? Probably I'd guess, and that for most likely doing what she was told. So problem solved in the corporate view...that and a smartly timed update to the service delivery manual which will just be "slid" in without much notice.

Recycled bubbles

Apparently she was sacked, that's the voice going around today and I'm sorry for her of course, she was just doing what ek wants them to do, recycle the unserved drinks, they do the same with the red wine, mixing the little leftover with a different wine sometimes and the same goes for orange juice and other drinks unfortunately.
This comes from a cc not from someone's imagination.

utter rubish...
ask the seniors in your cabin about this event. There is NO policy that tells cc to put drinks back in the bottle. none!
Lools very likely that the poor girl tried to cut a corner by collecting the bubbly first and then (hopefully) binning it, or was she really hoping to get an award for cost saving. I hope not...
it comes down, once again, to common sense and leadership by example in this company ... less and less of this as we all know.

maybe the top floor can reflect on this event and try to figure out where things went wrong. Sir MF must be turning in his grave......

Recycling

Actually you're right, let me correct myself.
She wasn't doing what Emirates wants, she was doing what some senior csv want and I can prove it to you if you want, Ill PM you something interesting soon, let me first modify the voices in the recordings.
My wife is gr1 so I know exactly what happens in the back and yes, sometimes the bubbles are recycled, usually the unserved ones which is already disrespectful and if they do it with the used ones is also disgusting.
I know that it doesn't look good but that's exactly how it is.
Unfortunately a girl might have just lost her job while the responsible is still there.
You need to remove the real responsibles not this poor girl that was unlucky to be filmed in the wrong moment.
