I agree haha, I would actually prefer doing training in another city so I wouldn't have to drive so far :P

Update

Hi! Cocoana I do know of one person from Melbourne base who is here in Sydney doing their training. Their partner was boasting about the allowances they are making while here for ground school. Would certainly supplement the training wage!
I got the active hold email on September 2nd, after my reference checks, security checks and medical had all been completed. I was told yesterday by a HR advisor that we should hear something 'soon'. Back to the waiting game It will all be worth it in the end!

Great news!! Which base did you apply for? And what kind of allowances would come with training away from base?

Wow, that is a great news!!! So if we successfully complete every process and there won't be a GS starting soon, we don't necessarily need to wait for a year or something. The company will possibly then shift us to wherever has the training program. That's awesome!!! Now I can somewhat see the hope is just around the corner hahaha... Thank you, Skysailing88~~~

Here is something you can do in advance: blood test. You can find out what vaccination you haven't done yet but need to have done, so you can do it ahead. Saving some time

How exciting do you know which vaccinations are required?

Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)

Copied from my medical form Once you done the vaccination, ask your GP to write a report indication when and what vac you've done. The report is for you bring with to your medical appointment so that you can safe the time for the processing

Just got sent the "active hold" email again... I have a feeling they have enough applicants (in MEL anyway) at the moment to fill their upcoming ground schools and things will be a little quiet now until next year... Hope I'm wrong...

Just received email - actively on hold as well looks like it's gonna be a long wait. Just curious... Don't they become busy during Christmas times which requires more staff? Haha thought that would be a possibility that they recruit more because of that!

Yes the Christmas period would be their busiest however with 7 weeks of training per school they need a lot of resources ie trainers, crew (taken offline to train), facilities etc and it sounds like they have filled all their upcoming training schools for the time being... Just have to be patient and positive and hope for the best from here...

Yep, same here! Friday is their 'email day'...
Just got put on active hold like the rest of you.
I think this puts things a bit more in prospective and I'll be packing my bags to go back to DXB for a while since nothing will be happening here.
I have a feeling they've filled the need for the time being and we'll have to wait a bit longer. Christmas time and upcoming holidays definitely aren't playing in our favor 'cause they start going on vacations-HR, trainers... I really hope I'm wrong, though. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and better news in the upcoming weeks!

I don't know if it's a good thing not having received any "active on hold" email now......

It's really not a easy situation... The last email I received the whole recruitment is kinda of relied on some external companies, so I'm hoping the emails you've received just for courtesy purpose and we all will have some real update soon.

Hi all! I received an exciting call yesterday from QF congratulating me and advising ground school begins on October 19th. Location for training TBA in due course, offer is for Sydney base. Hang in there, as I understand there are more ground schools coming up for Sydney base for November and onwards. Best of luck!
