That was the plan but the 787s are now in too as the Boeing Gold Care plan with Monarch didn't happen- so it's a mix now but not sure all the 738s any longer with that mix.
What maintenance do Thomson still perform at their Luton hangar?
757 & 737 heavy checks (including Arke and TUI Nordic)
787 Phase checks
737/757/767 light checks & non scheduled work
Some 757 and all 767 heavy checks have been contracted out for several years
Very busy...often 4 aircraft in at any one time during the winter

Gatwick diversions
Whilst STN seems to be bearing the brunt, looks like LTN is taking some diversions following the incident at LGW. Just seen a Thomson 757 from Funchal divert and now a few easyJet flights. Looks likes a busy evening for LTN

Thomson and Monarch as well. All the interesting stuff is going into Stansted.
(Edit) XL Airways 737 now on approach.

Presume as their home base, easyJet, Monarch & Thomson designate LTN as a prime diversion airport for their flights?
STN clearly has greater capacity to accommodate more than LTN.
Not sure how it works, do airlines have designated diversion airports in such situations or is it flexible depending on airports' ability to accommodate extra flights?

It always helps if an airline already has handling at any given airport. Seems close to 50/50 split for easyjet between LTN and STN. Luton must be getting close now to putting the full signs up. Southend has just taken its first Easyjet divert.

Around this time of evening the number of free stands is limited and I'd imagine the diverts are being limited to what the airport can comfortably handle. According to the arrivals board their is nothing between 18.25 and 19.25 so we might see an influx for that hour, if LGW does not re-open soon.

Does seem to be a hell of a lot of easyJet flights diverting to LTN just now plus a few others - mostly Monarch and Thomson.
Imagine it could go on for a few hours yet with LGW unlikely to reopen for a while
Must be a nightmare for the airlines affected
