I wonder if a Waterford service could operate on the back of this should Luton be the chosen destination?

It will 100% be Luton (+ another UK route) as it's what the airport want and some of the people involved are part owners of WAT. Set up appears to be going to a more low cost model and it should work this time.

What airlines have suitable aircraft for WAT that can operate a low cost model other than FlyBe?

Any idea when this will be announced?

I would suggest Flybe are not low-cost, one suggestion Danish Air Transport (DTR).

Easyjet
Not sure if this has been mentioned before but the Canaries flights are now bookable through till October and TFS is now three weekly, think previously this was only twice a week.
Fly kiss
Now bookable till July, they have reduced from four weekly to three weekly on Brest and Clermont flights and twice weekly to Strasbourg.Think probably a case of finding the right level for the routes. Will be interesting to see the stats for December on these routes.

13 Departures today by 7 airlines plus a few biz jets. Must be a Christmas Day record as ATC is staying open 24 hours this year.

Happy New Year all. I was just reading the airport's blog and came across this post about the new food outlets "...there are also plenty of drinking options to suit all moods, from the relaxed surroundings of Humphrey’s bar, including an outdoor terrace..."
Does anyone know where this outdoor terrace will be located?

The original plans shows an infill between the side of the terminal and the walkway to the stands together with a UKBF Office, retail storage, a retail outlet and a pre-boarding area on the roof of the immigration hall.
Later in a revised application the infill was dropped but that might have changed although the construction on the roof of the immigration hall was set to remain.
I can't see any alternative location to an outside terrace than using part of this roof area.
I was just reading the airport's blog

I realise the Multi Storey is now open, but I understand the public began a 'revolt' after all the lifts failed today!
As the other two cores have only a pair of lifts each I can see occasions when there are no working lifts in a core if it is taking 10 days to get a fix.

Nearly 9 months actually, as we were talking about the downgrade back in May as I have just checked by reading old posts. The downgrade started as the multi-storey construction was getting close to the South Stands.
Airbus sell a building shield that would fix the problem but would the airport want to buy it as there are not many times that the RVR drops below 200m? The worst I can recall over the last few months was an RVR of 250m but I can remember other years when the RVR has been around 150m.
Oh and back in April before the first part of the new drop off zone opened we were speculating here about issues with its design and how it would still bring traffic to a standstill, all of which has happened.

Pretty rare for the RVR to go as low as 200m at LTN but approaching midnight on 29th December 2016 there were consecutive readings on 23/05 of 200/225, 200/175,175/200 and 200/200. Obviously it's worth trying to solve the problem but hardly a disaster for LTN if that should prove impossible.
Now I've got the right data set I'll start again.
Pretty rare for LTN RVR to go as low as 200m but last Friday there were consecutive readings of 225, 200 (both on 26), 200, 225 (both on 08), there being just the one runway given in those METARS. The lowest that day was 175m on 26 (again the only given runway) at 0220. Obviously it's worth trying to solve the problem but hardly a disaster for LTN if that should prove impossible.
