March 2017 growth

https://www.energyvoice.com/oilandga...eturns-growth/

Nice to see a return to positive territory overall.

Remains to be seen if it can be sustained.

Wizz

Last couple of Wizz Warsaw flights has been the A321, but appears at least one of those flights is also now a (very!) early am arrival instead of evening. Today's flight was scheduled 0640/0715. Don't know if that's better or worse for pax!

0505 departure ex-Warsaw, a full hour before anything else - brutal!

I've seen this referred to as an Easter schedule, same pattern this coming Saturday and Monday before the schedule reverts to the normal Fri/Mon evening A320's. The loads have certainly been decent with ~200 pax on each of the rotations so far (this mornings ABZ-WAW is approx 175)

Thanks Capt. D - I must say that's pretty good. I presume Aberdeen still has a sizeable Polish population (something like 3% of its overall population last time I looked - I work with one and she speaks better English than wot I do!!) but obviously there will be a mix of UK/Poles/others flying the route.

There was a report on Radio 4 this morning about church attendance in Scotland (!) and it specifically referenced the number of new polish churches opening in Aberdeen in recent years (think it was 23!)

Thomson/First Choice 2018

Costa Dorada 'new' destination for S18.

From Thomson thread, ABZ slated to be a summer-only base next year with B738 - W-patterns with GLA.

Thomson

Yes and judging by the Thomson thread, ABZ looks to be on the winning side for once!

So overall next year looks to squeeze an additional rotation out of the aircraft with 10x ex-ABZ frequencies (+4 GLA W's) which compares with 9 ex-ABZ this year. The peak overnight PMI run on a Saturday night looks to have been dropped this year. Also, an extra 100 seats per roundtrip with the B738.

SAS - CPH

Don't recall if it was mentioned previously but appears SAS have cut CPH to 6w Su-Fr. Think it's the morning rotation that has been axed, leaving the evening one.

Also of note, SAS OSL will take an approx 8 week break between mid-June and mid-August. This ties in with the period when the schedule dropped to 3x weekly in the past few years.

That's said I'm sure it been noticed already but SVG has a new 737 evening rotation M-F which became effective 27/3.

Picked up a copy of the latest UpBeat magazine today, good to see that the new Northern Lights lounge will open on 1st July.....anything is better than the existing "executive" lounge at present.

Wonder if this will be TOM metal or Sunwing on behalf of TOM?

Not sure what's coming to fly for Thomson in S18 but the ASL B737-7 positioned up from CDG this afternoon for this summer season.

Riga returns

First relaunched airBaltic en route, B735 operating. Interesting to see how it does this time.

Also the return of Faro starts today with Ryanair.

I note that the existing BA Lounge is closing in August so presumably this is the first phase of the first phase to open?

Might not need anything else.... oil is heading south again...

There's the problem - OPEC cut back, oil rises. US fracking goes up in response to rising prices, supply rises, oil falls. Hence my belief this is the future now. Doubt we'll see $100 oil again. Maybe - eventually - $60-70 but not anytime in the near term.

The very tepid recovery we're seeing may not last.

We'll never see £100 oil because the cost of solar/wind is much less than that.

BP's CEO announced last year that they were producing UK oil for $17 per barrel and were targetting $12 per barrel in the near future. There's still money to be made.

BP CEO Bob Dudley says firm will double North Sea oil production by 2020 | City A.M.

The fall in the value of the Pound also increases the value of UK oil.

I'm sure the marginal cost of extracting oil from an existing field is quite low. And a number of fields are coming on stream as a result of investment decisions made several years back.

CAA Feb/Mar/New Routes

A couple of months data is now available from the CAA for the new FR routes to ALC and AGP.

Feb: (Includes first couple of inbounds)

ALC - 1817 - 151 p/f - 80% - 6 Rotations
AGP - 1726 - 144 p/f - 76% - 6 Rotations

Mar:

ALC - 2955 - 164 p/f - 87% - 9 Rotations
AGP - 3186 - 160 p/f - 84% - 10 Rotations

Looking at the March stats it looks like many routes have bottomed out and showing a slight upward trend. LHR is up but FRA, AMS & CDG are all showing pretty hefty declines owing to capacity/frequency cuts.

CDG has lost a third of the capacity and numbers down by a third so perhaps not the effect AF were looking for.
