Having become aware of a couple of recent resignations from my outfit to BA long-haul, I beg to differ.
It seems that the talent pool that BA can choose from is not as big as it used to be. The world is unstable , lots of people don’t want to be leaving secure jobs to be at the threat of redundancy. Also I believe people understand that BA isn’t the dream job that it once was . |
Anyone that’s interested that has an upcoming sim assessment . Did a 2 hour sim session at a place called Simprep based at Gatwick . Was very impressed with them and good value.

Hey folks
Sorry if this has been covered before. I saw the chat around 1000 hrs PIC to get a command. What would be the hours requirement for an internal FO with no jet PIC time? |

Transfer to Heathrow from Gatwick
Hi all,
If I join Gatwick as a FO, after initial 5 year freeze is up and I want to go over to LHR, am I able to go over as a FO (to keep relative seniority) or will I be forced a captain upgrade? |

You are never forced to take command, should you wish you could stay in the RHS and enjoy the benefits of seniority and JSS

Never held to a freeze period, three courses in consecutive years.

if one was to make the move over would that be another 5 year freeze or is the 5 year freeze for when you join only?

Bid and subsequent freeze rules are quite complex, but the rules say a new freeze will not be applied if the pilot is ‘directed’ to a new base. This would imply that one is applied for an aspirational base change on the same type.

thanks all,
any idea how long to allow from arrival at crew carpark at LHR to T5? Are there regular busses? |

There’s some ambiguity around the 777 LHR/ LGW bases. Are all 777 pilots dual based?
The A320 is used at both airports, but the flight crew are based at either LHR on a mainline contract, or LGW on a Euroflyer contract. All 777 pilots are on a mainline LHR contract. |

Buses are (officially) every 7-8 minutes, although this can fluctuate slightly. It generally seems accepted that if you've swiped in to the car park at least 25 mins prior to report time that you've left a reasonable amount of time.

Thanks STF. If offered a different type initially (they mentioned they were heavily recruiting on the triple at the mo) would you still be able to have a successful 320 command bid or would the type freeze override it?

For a comparison what would we be looking at pay wise as a PP2 left seat 320, basic pay plus duty and all the other bits? Is it 30 days leave a year, and how many days in a month do you guys work?
edit: that includes the pension as well. The spreadsheet they sent out isn’t the greatest |
I had a look through the recent iteration of the bid result. The most junior successful 320 Command bid for someone coming from a long haul fleet is 4 training years complete within the company - which is the standard pre-command freeze. So for this year, as far as I can see - no one has been released from a long haul fleet early, to take up a short haul command.
