Most people don't care about an airlines' wokery or green washing or whatever BS PR stunts they are attempting to pull at any particular time. However they do care about terms and conditions along with the company's commercial viability, hence why Virgin are struggling to recruit.

what they said , also how Virgin treated its staff during Covid was one of the worst .
The threat of a knee jerk reaction at the slightest whiff of a downturn.

I do notice Raph, that YOU are the only one who is assuming citing wokism has negative connotations, and name calling. Re read the posts - for example, I merely said I was rejected for coming across as insufficiently woke and for applicants to pass, its an essential element which is assessed - no position on woke either way. You then launched into a bitter tirade, including calling this tory hating, centrist remainer a Gammon, and inadequate.Me thinks you doth protest too much!
I do however have a position on Virgin (only doing the assessment as a back up to a back up), because I'm pretty sure i would have hated it for a whole host of reasons, and days spent with colleagues like you would have felt very long indeed!

So T&C’s then, no “wokery”. Bs when it doesn’t affect you, “BS”, exactly one of my points proven over and over Lol

Officer Cartman 13th February 2024 10:56

Are we likely to see a swathe of cancelled flights this summer?

You are a one man army who seems determined to pick a fight with anyone and everyone.

What fight?simply responded to idiocy, people are free to beat the argument. If they can’t, then it’s not on me. I stand for what I say, come here moan about them not hiring you because they are “woke”, is a lazy, anti-intellectual argument. Says more about the individual than the institution.

That’s your perception, and perception is not reality. If elaborating on the idea of diversity & inclusion looks like a tirade, then you have a bigger problem. Also, you are also being disingenuous if you read that comment and thought that he meant “woke” with a positive connotation.
Is that right? Yeah, go elsewhere then, the point is, don’t like it? Don’t apply. Case settled!

Yes, most definitely.

Why because of the number of begging email and texts from crewing.

Add to that is the pay review which will most definitely be rejected as it will be insulting, that’s standard for virgin who still have yet to make any profits..

So yes if you planning to fly with them make sure you have a flexible hotel booking..

Sim Assessment / Interview

Has anyone been in for the sim assessment and interview recently? I‘ve been invited and would appreciate a DM with some guidance on how the day went, thanks a lot!

Sick 21st February 2024 07:58

If it's still the fixed base in Crawley, then it's quite demanding, a devil to hand fly so don't worry, but I think they're assessing CRM mainly. Top bloke (or insert preferred pronoun) who runs it.

bonzy 21st February 2024 10:40

Quite a few are going to Jet 2, DHL and Emirates, not just BA. Perhaps more in the process of interviewing else where.

Is it mainly for job security considering the financial position or how crew's are being treated by management or the training departments...

They have been offering positions to non rated Boeing & Airbus apparantly and rated who have not flown for several years but have hours.

Will they need to park any aircraft this summer?

For sure more than just BA taking people. I know an SFO who’s interviewing this Friday for one of those you mentioned. And that’s on top of the others I know are leaving.

What’s the driving force… first you have to remember this isn’t Virgin Atlantic anymore.. it’s the new Virgin 2.0

The way they treated crews during COVID is one factor, the union reps negotiated most of the Airbus pilots out of a job to protect themselves. It’s left a lot of bitterness and resentment in the ranks. The chair of the union at the time is now the head of flight crew/ principal flight crew manager, so he’s done well with his creer out of it. And then to use the return path to remove all the PPU reps?? Dodgy to the max.

Then there is the lifestyle which is definitely not good enough now to offset the lower pay. Everyone is knackered, and that’s not safe. They are throwing overtime at people to work days off etc, but that’s like putting a band aid on a femoral artery..

And then you have the management who bully and target people who raise concerns. If you’re a yes man or someone that is prepared to look the other way at some point then you’ll do well at virgin 2.0. If not and you speak up then prepare to be targeted. They will use the training department to “fail” or hold you back from progression, they deny it but I know personally of several high quality sfo’s that I’ve flow with who have previous command time who “failed” for the most pathetic reasons.. read into that what you want, or better yet read the findings from Lawson vs virgin Atlantic…

And speaking of tribunal case, just look at all the tribunal cases they have stacking up? How much is that costing them? And for some very serious reasons as well ranging from unfair dismissal, constructive dismissal, discrimination and even sexual harassment I saw someone speaking about recently.

That’s not a good sign of happy work place?

Virgin sound like they have gone woke and will probably go broke as a result.

it sounds like self destruction to me.

Marvo 29th February 2024 19:21

I’ve scrolled back through the thread but can anyone shed some light on the interview? Thanks.

Are you woke. Doesn’t matter if you can’t fly. That’s about it.

Indeed. As bad as Virgin are they are not going to hire people they want and sounds like some are upset about this.

Just received bad news from Zenon.

They were told by VA only this morning to review all candidates (They have a large amount to call) and filter out anyone who has not flown aircraft over 10T in the last 12 months. Passed all the screening and only had the sim to do ahead of final interview. Very disappointing news indeed and shows the values of diversity and inclusion are not as they would appear...
