Holding or in Easyjet’s case Talent Pool is where you ‘go’ once you’ve passed their recruitment process and you’re waiting to be offered a start date.

eiffel 2nd November 2017 15:48

Do Easyjet give an reply, whether positive or negative, after the online assessment?... (Apart from: "You have successfully completed the online assessment...")
Two months, and stil nothing....

dirk85 2nd November 2017 18:06

Yes they do, in my experience. You can still check on the website to confirm your application status...

phenix007 7th November 2017 12:05

Hi ,

I was wondering if any of you in the pool, had received a start date as experience NTR F/O base in Gatwick or Luton for the TR course.

I would be grateful if you know what is their intentions. "like how many NTR F/O do they need and when?

Thanks to all of you:ok:

dirk85 7th November 2017 12:24

The situation right now is very dynamic, between Air Berlin and Monarch.

Before all this happened the needs were for about 450 pilots, same as last year. To give you an idea last roughly 300 were cadets, 100 direct entry F/O and thr rest DEC.
Now it's everybody's guess, with so many rated and experienced pilots on the market.

Talent pool

Phenix007, when did You have Your Assesment and how long You've waited for feedback?

phenix007 8th November 2017 08:37

I have done my assessment 6 months ago and got the positive feedback to be in the pool 4months later.
I have no clue about their intentions( due to Monarch and Air berlin) , even worst I can not apply to EZY switzerland because I am in the pool.
Someone wrote somewhere on Pprune, Ezy switzerland are looking for 40 pilots ( true or not I don't know) but if it is the case why they don't offer us this possibility mostly if Gatwick and LUTON are full house.

dirk85 8th November 2017 09:51

The selection process is separate between the two AOC, with a tech part in the swiss one.
I have heard of people being offered Switzerland but it was unconfirmed and I don't know it it went through...

LGET 8th November 2017 13:40

Hi all,
I received the offer today as NTR FO. I will start the type at the end of January.
My base will be Venice which was my 3rd choice and I am very happy with it.
I suggest you hang tough and eventually they will contact you.
Best of luck

Lancelot747 10th November 2017 10:32

Hey LGET,

Could I ask you when you did your screening, and if you had applied as Direct Entry FO with another Airbus TR ?

LGET 11th November 2017 09:42

Hi Lancelot,
I applied as NTR DEFO, no previous experience on the Bus. My screening was at the end of June

Lancelot747 12th November 2017 18:17

Hey LGET,

Thanks for the info. From what I have heard and read so far, it seems they are filling the Italian bases first, a guy I screened with back in January got called for a December start in Italy, already type-rated tho. I requested UK bases, nothing on my side so far. I'm Airbus rated but not on the 320 anymore so I'd be due for a CCQ first. Looks like it's all about bases and training capacity. Anyone else who screened early this year ? I'd be curious to hear about their situation.

Rules of the pool

Hi everybody,

My question deals with the rules of the Talent Pool.
Does my starting date depend on the bases I chose (eg I ask for an unpopular base to start quickly) or does my starting date only depend on the date I entered the Talent Pool (strictly a seniority list) or both?
Thanks to those who can shed some light on that!

dirk85 13th November 2017 10:39

There are no written rules, but it is believed it mostly depends on which base you have given your preference, and how well you performed in the assessment.

VJW 13th November 2017 10:59

I can’t believe the last sentance. How well you performed at assessment is the difference between passing and not.

I’m waiting for a call for DEC NTR LGW. Everyone who has been offered something so far passed before I did. I’d be amazed, and making a call if it turns out someone who passed after me gets a call before I do. That’s not how holding pools work..

My logic would be this. There is one large hold pool. Inside that it’s divided into 4, Captain rated or not, FO rated or not. You are then picked out in order of date you entered the pool based on their demands for training courses available and where they need to base you. Very simple. Again how well you did at assessment implies the best get picked first and if they’re desperate they’ll offer something to the ones who scraped through. I think they set their own recruitment standards much higher than that.

dirk85 13th November 2017 13:27

I stopped looking for fairness and logic in airline recruitment long time ago.
The base allocation and start dates in easyJet do not seem to follow specific rules.
Or I am not smart enough to understand them, one of the two.

I was very short in the pool, and I was called before people that had been there longer than me, and there have been people joining the pool after me, and being called out before.
People were offered bases that one week before were not available, and when guys asked to swap base with assessment buddies because interested in each other base were said no, with no explanation.

I have some memories about one of the assessors saying that the performance of the applicant had an effect on how quickly one would have been called, but no evidence to support that is actually what happens.

One can only sit, wait and hope to get something vaguely close to his preference.

Do not be afraid to say no if you do not like the base on offer, but keep in mind you can stay in the pool max one year.
I know several guys that refused the first base they offered them and that have been offered months later what they wanted. It almost looked like a poker game to me.

The situation now might be different with all the Monarch and Air Berlin guys obviously.

Lancelot747 13th November 2017 17:05

VJW,

agreed, that would make perfect sense. When was your interview ? Mine was in January, got the bases offers around June and still waiting. They're super friendly on the phone but won't say much regarding an estimated start date.

VJW 13th November 2017 23:48

Nope- just a case of waiting your turn. I passed a few months ago- but I’m a Captain and think we’re not waiting quite as long as FO’s for a call.

Who knows though..

Fred_fr 21st November 2017 09:18

What are the differences between easyjet uk and easyjet switzerland in term of contract and conditions ?

If you apply with one can you submit a new application with the other

Thank you in advance

dirk85 21st November 2017 11:22

You can have only one active application at a time.

What people don't seem to understand is that the contract changes, big time, in money, conditions, roster, part time, pension, in EVERYTHING, from one country to another.
It is like working for different companies.

Just money wise we are talking of THOUSANDS of euros of difference per month from one place to another.

Easyjet Uk is the AOC under which at the moment all the bases out of Switzerland operate. That does not mean that the work contract is the same. Germany, Italy, France, UK, Spain and Portugal have different contract for crews. Even FTL slightly change.

Easy Swiss is the AOC under which all the swiss registered planes based out of Basel and Geneva operate.
Being applicable only to one country there is only one work contract applicable.
