It would seem there is an 'exodus' epedemic at most of the less glamorous airlines. Is everyone jumping ship towards the same flames, or will there be a shuffling of personnel from one heap of poo to a slightly less smelly heap of poo to replace the exodus from somewhere higher up the food chain? Poo is still poo when you are in it, but a few extra sweeties help. The only good thing about being up to your neck in poo is to make sure it's feet first.

It occurs to me as an outsider that Flybe management might actually want their staff to go to pastures new. It would then mean that the plethora of newly qualified, desperate-to-get-a-job low-hours pilots would jump at the chance of the new "recruitment surge" that would happen and not bother to see how much they are getting paid or how many hours they will be working until far too late.

I guess if people really want change to happen at Flybe, they have to stay there and force the change to happen rather than vote with their feet.

Most (if not all) are going to Gulf Air.
I understand the remuneration is in the region of £10,000 per month, tax free.

From what I've heard it's closer to £8.5k/mth for DEC. For F/O it's £5k/mth. And of course, no tax to pay.

As a Dash driver myself the options are extremely limited at best for the turboprop guys, in fact I know of only AL in the UK and QR in the desert, and consider myself lucky ive got past the first stage of the recruitment process for AL. I know of a lot of guys who have applied to both, id say 60 - 70% of Dash FO's have applied, but thats a LONG way off an actual resignation, especially when we are competing with 320/737 type rated guys.

As for the Emb guys, yea the outlook is a little better. Gulf Air is an option but why not wait a little longer and then go straight for emirates flying bigger metal and living somewhere a hell of a lot better?

I cant speak for everyone as I know some flybe pilots have previous heavy time etc. but the majority are stuck at flybe for the time being, I cannot see a mass exodus happening this year.

The rumour of BA taking on non-type guys hasnt happened yet, and with their current pool of pilots being told it could be the end of the year before a start date, its still going to be a long wait when and if it does happen.
EasyJet have got a HUGE queue of pilots that will work for peanuts (even less peanuts than we get a flybe!), same at Ryanair. Jet2 and Thomas Cook only wanted type rated guys and their recruitment has already finished for the year, Thompson and Monarch are overcrewed, Bmi are bust....

This is our problem - the middle east is just about in melt down. Oil lives in the middle east (in general).If the unrest in Tunisia, Egypt, Bahrain,LIBYA(1/2 Opec reserve), Oman spreads to Saudi, trouble looms.
At the moment - $115 for a Barrel of oil. If Libya has civil war - which is probable and if troubles then spread to Saudi (again probable) analysts predict $200/barrel
10 years ago a barrel cost $25 and was the same price since the mid 80's ( inflation adjusted).

We aint going to win on the cash front. I think we take the financial side but barter on the terms side. Give us early starts/late finish to leave and im happy for now, all things considered. (PS just for now til the world economy is more stable then FSU!)

DHL AIR have just taken on about 20+ F/O's and still looking. Based LEJ however

You make a very good point tincans. Using BA as an example they have obviously shown an interest in type rated guys recently, and why not I suppose. They will have an absolutely huge application pool of type rated folk beating a path to their door. If anyone sees an exodus I would imagine it will be Ezy or RYR, as all the pay to fly heroes abandon their poor contracts at the first opportunity with no reprisals. Maybe then Ezy will realise the pitfalls of such schemes and return to employing experienced people. And so Flybe will empty to Ezy. But somehow I doubt Ezy will realise this and will keep on with the present policy.
And don't be too critical of them, after all Flybe are still taking on 200hr newbies.
In short it certainly would be a good idea to keep holding out for what you want, unless China or India hold any appeal the other offers may be limited for a while yet.

I wonder how the meeting went?!

They have probably decided on a date for another meeting :ugh:
