flybe shares down; Jazeera Airways 2010 increases market share | Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation - CAPA

Just wondering, but at what point does having a lot of grounded aircraft due to strike action become more expensive than the cost of the payrise/ sheduling agreement? Given the figures published for the cost of the payrise and the costs associated with the volcanic ash/ December snow, I'm guessing it's only a day or so

In the great scheme of things your pay rise is probably small change to a company with the revenue of flybe. However, I suspect that your 'macho' management will blythely accept any costs and damage to avoid losing face and making concessions to its workforce.

Direct Entry Captains at EZY. From Flybe?!?!?! Is it April 1st?

ltn and beyond 23rd February 2011 17:04

Flyhigh2fly,

BA have already started recruitment,140 this year,140 next year and the same planned after that too !!

So you have you wish/chance :ok:. good luck with it to all at Flybe.

I was there when it was great shame to see its where it is now

beauport potato man 23rd February 2011 18:59

been reading this thread with interest - as an ex-flyBE B146 f/o....... i'm now an EZY captain on the bigger bonus but still have regular thoughts about moving back to flyBE for a better lifestyle.

I hope you guys resolve this to your/BALPA's satisfaction - t'was a great airline once y'know.

HidekiTojo 23rd February 2011 22:05

You'd be a fool to give up the easy pay and the airbus to fly for Flybe, there is no lifestyle here anymore plus the dash trash is exactly that.

I understand life at easy is no holiday camp but at least the pay doesn't leave you eating beans on toast 6 days per week.

I'm outta here asap and I won't be taking a command on the dash EVER. Most jet FO's have no plans of a dash command either. The emb TR will be a ticket to much better things in the next few years. It's becoming an ever more popular aircraft.

'Direct Entry Captains at EZY. From Flybe?!?!?! Is it April 1st?'

Nope direct entry F/O will do just fine.

Serenity 24th February 2011 08:48

There is no lifestyle at Flybe anymore to make up for the lack of salary.
That's why people in both seats are already going else where for better lifestyle and plus the salary.

The usual is 54/56 hours off between 5 day stints. Think Easy, Jet 2 and all are way better contracts!!

Pizzaro 24th February 2011 09:54

Potato Man

Out of interest , why would you consider coming back to Flybe from Easy?

So they've had another meeting, looked at what we want, then.... Scheduled another meeting! aaargh!
They sure as hell know how to delay the process. Over a year so far!
Another wait then.... 8th March.
Ho hum.

Quality Time 25th February 2011 15:16

Reading this thread reminds me exactly of Balpas dealings with Easyjet in the early nineties. Secret meetings, lack of communication with the members etc.
Oh and ultimately a big let down and the reason I left Balpa.( (for the second and final time)
I really hope you guys have better luck.

Serenity 25th February 2011 15:16

Why does it take 3 weeks to organise the next meeting?? :ugh:

Big_Picture 26th February 2011 07:35

My reaction exactly. I don't understand why this has to take so long, especially since the results of the base tours by Balpa are similar to the managements experiences.

I can see the "final" offer being changed ever so slightly and another ballot, that will be another 2-3 months down the pan.

Cumulo Calvus 26th February 2011 11:46

I thought the company had made it very clear that there was no more negotiation to be had. Or was that scare tactics? Surely, following the overwhelming rejection of the derisory offer the next step is for ACAS to go in and try to save the day before a ballot for strike action?

Serenity 26th February 2011 16:17

Over the past couple of weeks I have met at least 6 pilots who are off for better terms and lifestyle, and I know there is another dozen in the pipeline already!!

Sign of things to come???

I'm 100% positive it is a sign of things to come but are these folk definitely heading off with a concrete offer or just one of the many hoping to?

HidekiTojo 27th February 2011 15:00

Where are these 6 off to? I'm hoping to escape ASAP
