What is the effective tax rate that you pay on that Captains salary for someone based in Spain for examples. The figures quoted are €10,500 gross. SO back of a fag packet maths says thats €10.5K X 12 = €126K a year. What is the overall rate of tax on that sum? 20% 30% 40% ?

What is the average take home per month, net? about €6K?

According to a colleague that went there, (Spain ) around 7 to 7500 a month after taxes. No loss of licence or medical care, however, this can be arranged through the contract " agency"

Could anyone shed any light on the contracts in place for Captains at LGW? How is the Parc contract taxed. Is there a lower tax on the flight pay or is it all taxed as full income? Also any info on the permanent contract for LGW would be much appreciated. Many thanks to all kind enough to contribute.

I would suggest that you call the contract agency as ppl on this website will have very little knowledge whether you have a chance or not.

You mean with less than the minimum requirements? (1500 total time, 737 rated,...)

hehe...I did two months ago and I thanked you already....now they called me for interview and I was looking for some more opinions.....I am new here and I don't really know how to use this web....:hmm:

The BLH payment for Captains is €17 how much you earn really depends on your base, but BLH for flying are only part of it, you also get 4 x BLH for each standby duty 4 x17 = €68 and 10 days is not unusual in say LPA where there are few flights, but very long duty days on say ARN or OSL and back and your BLH is from report.

When you start you are allocated an agency, but can change after one month to the agency of your choice from the 3 used.

There will be ongoing recruitment for the foreseeable future to feed fleet expansion (10 new 738 delivered so far this year with a further 4 due before year end) with more deliveries due in 2014.

It is worth visiting their investor relations website at lot of useful info on their, being a public company they are very transparent

john_smith - that is about the only way Norwegian are going to make a sustainable profit, so it seems like a good ploy. I wait with interest to see if a single one of their Airbus slots are ever actually used.

I have flown with them three times. Very nice experience on all three occasions. Text message to confirm you are checked in, text message to let you know if they running behind schedule, well turned out crew, Free WiFi on board, and three less seats for extra leg room. And no "big sell" via the dreaded PA. Aircraft was full on all three occasions with 180 or so very content passengers.

They are the third biggest budget operator in Europe and are streets ahead of Easy and worlds away from Ryanair with regard to passenger experience IMHO.

Weather it's sustainable remains to be seen.
