nrn - don't worry too much at the moment, I've had an application in for a few months and I know of others who have one in longer than me.

The focus at the moment is for DEC with experienced FO's picking up towards the end of the summer.

Best of luck!

Skymateo question was about social tax's levied in ADDITION to income tax. Of course its not a tax free job.............

McBruce 2nd Jun 2013 16:49

What's the estimated take home for NAS on a given month?

Kirks gusset 3rd Jun 2013 10:08

LNIDA,

I think Skymateo has got the wording mixed up then, Income tax on Salary may be 40% at some place but "social taxes" will be around 15% max anywhere, if they were 40% that would mean loosing 90% of your salary in UK for example.

A and C 4th Jun 2013 16:19

Confused......so am I !

The taxation system across the EU is confused with the term Social tax being the most variable. In the UK social tax is called National Insurance and is generally to provide old age pension, unemployment protection Etc.

Income tax goes to the govenment for most of the other stuff.

The total of both of these is likely to be IRO 40% for your average pilot.

There is also a local property tax that the local authorities use to pay for local services, these you pay out of taxed income and depend on the size of your house.

I hope this helps give a general picture of the UK tax system but please if you work out of the UK get professional advice !!!!

so after this thread has been rendered useless as well, what about rumours about new bases. what's the word, AND WHEN...:sad::sad:

captplaystation 6th Jun 2013 10:53

BCN was a big rumour for this autumn, however so far announced plans seem to centre around new routes from Germany to Spain, with no mention of anything involving BCN.

My bet (and hope ) is that it will happen in Spring 2014.

There are rumours involving PMI/ FCO/ SXF / MAN but they haven't (so far ) progressed beyond rumours. Enough new aircraft to come that they will all undoubtedly become reality at some time.

captplaystation 6th Jun 2013 13:29

Last Winters LPA crew were given (more or less) their preferences for Spring & are now variously based in AGP/ALC/HEL (really ! ) /LGW/ Core positions with/without leave of absence as Contractors. A few chose to remain in LPA where there are a few crew still based. I would guess TFS base will be the same scenario as there will be very little production from there after Spring .

LNIDA 8th Jun 2013 07:05

For Summer 2013 there is one based unit in LPA but this increases to 6 or 7 for W13/14 plus an additional 2 units in TFS, so 8 or 9 units in LPA/TFS in total with based crews. In addition many flights to the above start from the Nordic countries using local crews. W13/14 see's a significant jump in rotations compared with last year on peak days there will over 35 aircraft arrivals, this taken from the Norwegian.no website, but this does not show the whole picture for winter yet and there are charter flights on top of that which will add at least 5 movements a week.

So yes some crews will be based moved to the Canary Isles to over winter, most likely from AGP/ALC/LGW when the summer Med stuff winds down, there are less aircraft deliveries planned in 2014 (8 B738 I think) so only around 3 or 4 courses starting August/September with more in Jan/Feb and the A320Neo's start to arrive in 2015/16 followed by the 73MAX in 2017

Norwegian have a new larger check in area in J block at LGW and Are Lingus have taken the old Norwegian check in desks between the twin walkways

Nobody is answering e-mails...

LNIDA 20th Jun 2013 17:04

Someone said that there had been interview and sim assessments for Captains two weeks ago for August & September start dates, with a F/o course penciled in for January 14, but nothing like the 200 last Autumn

nitefiter 25th Jun 2013 11:57

There was definitely a Captain assessment in early June,I was on it. The course dates were for August and September. I was told that interviews for FO,s were in September for October and January course start dates.
Linda thanks for your earlier information. Definitely a better deal than Jet2 by light years.

Norwegian capt interview

Hi there, I'm a captain with a certain lo co which flys the same type as norwegian. Seriously thinking about applying for norwegian soon, any chance you could tell me about the interview process especially the sim?

Thanks!

Pin Head 26th Jun 2013 16:26

Any good links for the matrigma tests?

Firestorm 27th Jun 2013 16:14

Pinhead, they aren't difficult as such, just do them. I don't think there is much preparation that you can do for them, unless you have the answers. A google search should bring up any practice pages that might be out there.

Pin Head 27th Jun 2013 20:37

Thanks. So what type of tests then? Verbal, mathematic?

chrian_dk 3rd Jul 2013 09:25

i keep hearing pmi, mad, bcn and rome either end of the year or next year, what are the rumours from inside the company, and is anything about to be confirmed...
