Well if there are lots of RYR pilots getting interviews, that must be some significant recruitment onto the 737 at Gatwick...

That'll be a bit of a shock. Going from a new NG to a 20 year old 737-400!

update on process

I know candidates are going in today because it was on the list of the 6/7 days they offered me.

I hope all went well.

Would anyone care to tell us if MICROPAT is still being tested and if not how they are fitting all the parts in to the 5 hr allocation.

thanks

Wee Weasley Welshman 27th Oct 2010 12:20

Given that MICROPAT (circa late 1980's) always was designed and developed to assess piloting aptitude against a general population background it would be perverse if BA were still using it as a selection tool for already experienced pilots.. Though they still might. Prof Dave Bartram who designed MICROPAT does now work for SHL so perhaps there has been a slight carry over.

If you passed your last LPC/OPC you have little to fear from the aptitude testing element. Worry about the interview or something else.

computer tests

Just to remind everyone, the computer tests are there to see how you improve as the tests go along (trainability etc), so do not think you have to be perfect through them

good luck to all

nickm0450 27th Oct 2010 12:44

Thanks Buter....so you know for sure do you?

anyone that has been in today care to say if they did any video games??

Charliebravo01 27th Oct 2010 12:49

License to fly,

I am not sure that what you say is completely true, the final Micropat test (when I did them around summer 08) was purely and simply a test of capacity.

babotika 27th Oct 2010 16:43

Has everyone who applied been given dates or gotten the PFO or are some people still waiting for news...?

S.

Eurotraveller 27th Oct 2010 17:10

babotika,

I know of several who are still awaiting a response.

still waiting...

wince 27th Oct 2010 21:13

I submitted my application the day after the door was open. No news since then.

speedy688 27th Oct 2010 21:24

Submitted lunch time the day it opened. Nothing so far.

FliegerTiger 28th Oct 2010 09:56

Buter, may I ask how you can say that with any degree of certainty? Are you involved in the recruitment process?

Can anybody confirm what Buter has said about no MicroPat? I'd like to save myself a hundred quid or so for Cockpitweb if it's true...

Marty McFly 28th Oct 2010 13:35

When do they send the GPI test out by e-mail? I'm just wondering if I inadvertently deleted it when the initial invite came through. Thanks in advance and good luck to everybody.

FliegerTiger 28th Oct 2010 20:13

They say about a week before the interview.

Buter 28th Oct 2010 22:35

Me? Nope. It would be a bit of a giggle but it would mean extra days in Hounslow - no thanks.

Just spent five days with a dude from the recruitment team. He said the video games had gone the way of the 1-11 sim. If I'm lyin to you, he lied to me. Kinda jives with the half day assesment though, don't it?

FWIW, the begininning of this thread is just as relevant today as it was 5 years ago (according to aforementioned interviewer/assesor).

Good luck to all of those trying to get the job offer. For those of you who do, seriously think about that big seniority list that you will be joining the bottom of. BA ain't a bad employer by any means, but it won't be for everyone - just make a decision that's right for you/your family, not one that lets your ego say that you're a BA pilot.

Cheers

Buter

Anyone heard today yet? I'm still waiting and hoping! They seem as though they send mail out on Friday, or like the Sunday just gone, I can't work it out or understand, any ideas?:ugh:

pilot3103 29th Oct 2010 16:56

Oops, anyone heard anything today yet?

Mooney12 29th Oct 2010 23:19

BA received just under 1000 applications for 80 available places, in the short time the application process was open.

So those who have not heard as of yet, fear not! Clearly the recruitment team have a lot of applications to go through...
