Deadline for submitting applications was 23:59.59 on Friday 8th October 2010.

vote4pedro 15th Oct 2010 15:22

Sent my application in on the 3rd and invited for assessment by email on the 8th. Assessment at end of the month. Ex hold pool.

Best of luck to all (I know I'm still gonna need it!)

NFI

I opened my application on the 1st and submitted it on the 4th. Not heard anything and not optimistic either. A mate submitted his 2 days later and has already been invited for an interview. We've got same hrs, type and have even been to the assessment before and failed. What's the beef here?

Jet setter 01 15th Oct 2010 16:23

news for those still waiting to hear

a very good friend of mine got an invitation for assessment this morning.

He applied about 12hrs before i did on the day it opened and only heard today, so there is still hope.

hes on the 737 with roughly 3000hrs and NOT an ex-pooler, but was rejected for interview last time, so who knows?!?!?!?!

Busbar 15th Oct 2010 19:06

Yes I submitted the application on the afternoon of Wednesday 6th October. I had the option to choose dates from the 8th through to the 18th of November, so quite a choice really.

For your info I am A320 rated with around 3000 hours on type.

I wouldn't worry too much guys, I felt the same when others started posting about their dates. Just wait and see what happens (I know that's easy for me to say).

The invite e-mail came through this morning at around 11am.

Best of luck to all of you :ok:

babotika 15th Oct 2010 20:47

I guess first-come-first-serve doesn't apply this time and they're after something else, time or writing ability or both.

Or they aren't saying no until enough assessments take place to fill all the vacancies, but that would be cruel.

Sit and wait I guess.... Congrats to everyone who got the invite already.

OnlyOneRudder 15th Oct 2010 23:19

Congrats everyone, was just wondering if there's any correlation with the notice period that people are currently under for those that have been offered interviews so far?

EXEZY 16th Oct 2010 06:05

Applied on the 7th, still no word, have to say I'm losing hope now.

Busbar 16th Oct 2010 06:28

OnlyOneRudder,

As far as I am aware the industry standard notice period is 3 months. Mine is 3 months with my current employer.

As I said before, there were lots of dates available in November to choose from so those that have not heard, don't panic too much. It may just be taking time to process the high volume of applications. I have no idea the order they do it in but one would assume that next week we should see more invites being sent out.

Spendid Cruiser 16th Oct 2010 11:43

Through an incomplete process of elimination I suspect that if you haven't heard anything yet, then it has nothing to do with your experience, date of application or notice - your application was simply less desirable than the guys who have been called ahead of you. As previously mentioned, they probably sort the initial batch on those branching questions and use further processes thereafter to refine as required.

Have some hope that once a tranche of two have been interviewed with some rejections they'll work through the rest in due course.

DoctorEcam 16th Oct 2010 16:45

friends

there's too much mental m:mad:n going on here. They could have started calling according to an alphabetical order, type rating or licence type.As permafrost keeps saying

i'd love to find out how "what do you look for in a leader" allows BA to interview only the best pilots.
and last question for you guys

If ba rejected already our applications why we have not received any email yet?
i just want to keep this thread juicy and fresh:E

cheers
DE

It's all good news until you have heard, better or worst.

What is DE on about? I can't understand! What a way of thinking? I cannot get my head around what he is talking about? I am perplexed that such people are going to be successful in our national flag carrier!!! God bless us all.

VJW 16th Oct 2010 22:49

Who said BA are looking for the best pilots??

The questions asked on their application, are there to determine whether or not you might be suited to their company. Course we can all fly, they were asking for people with experience this time out. What you wrote on that page for their 4 questions is what makes you different from the other guy in your airline with the same flight experience as you.

Doesn't surprise me at all as to why some people on here haven't had a email.

binsleepen 16th Oct 2010 23:09

For what its worth I was in the hold pool but don't have the TR for this round. I applied to BA twice and got to the first assessment both times. The first time there were 7 days froms application to invite, the second time it was 6 days.

From the letter I got from BA, the recruitment now is to have people ready to start in the next financial year i.e. after 1 Apr 11. This is the reason for the TR requirements so they can train you quick starting in Apr and have you on line for the summer.

Regards

Busbar 17th Oct 2010 02:47

Some very valid points made here. Please take note of them. Just because I got called for assessment does not make me automatically fit in with BA criteria. It just means they want to see a bit more from my application during the selection process.

There are many more candidates with more suitable experience/brighter/intelligent than me. Don't give up hope, hang in there and be patient.

BB :ok:

Murray,
I was just trying to infuse a little bit of humor here anyway if you think that those 4 questions are essential and they call you according to them i would say that people buys tons of books on how to answer to the "magic questions"...it's a good strategy but honestly i don't think that such tools are unknonwn to ba.You can end up having 100's pilots giving the same kind of prepackaged replies...what makes them interesting then?

cheers

EXEZY 17th Oct 2010 05:58

Has any one on here actually recieved some form of rejection from BA, or don't they bother doing that any more?

south coast 17th Oct 2010 12:17

Is the online application form only available to complete during the dates that they are inviting applications?

In other words, is in not possible to complete it and have it saved ready to submit when they start accepting applications again.

VJW 17th Oct 2010 16:29

That is a good question south coast. I can still log into ba.com but I did get an invite. I'm thinking you still can though, I remember looking at my app before I heard back.

Shadowsonclouds 17th Oct 2010 17:00

From what I gather, all those invited I know have unfrozen ATPLs. I've got 3k 737 but still frozen, not a whiff of a reply.

Keep positive those still waiting.
