“ Pending a final descision” doesn’t sound like you have passed everytheng then? J2 did alot of recruitment assessment days this year, and are still recruiting, for all seats, both none & rated. Wether they need so many who knows.
Looks like its going to be a rather large pool thats filling rapidly.

J2 Hold Pool
Received an email yesterday along the lines of "still very much being considered" but no guarantee of a job. My assesment was late July.

To those that are waiting in the pool, I think your basing preference can sometimes have something to do with it. I was completely flexible and was offered a course within a month of attending selection, however not at my first choice base. The only reason people have waited so long has either been as a result of this or the candidate's availability; this information is clearly caveated by my very limited experience!

I am in the hold pool since mid July. I keep getting emails but no date for a course. Do you think those with Type ratings and those bailing from Ryan Air could be getting in before non type rated people like myself??
I never got the 14 day answer, just to say that I was in the pool..still swimming.

Passing the assessment day is the minimum requirement. Flight ops management then asses the applicants in order of suitability. Based on rated/ none rated, current experience , uk licence , currency and training costs.
If you manage to tick all these boxes, then it’s usually a month or so to be offered a course. Otherwise it depends on who has joined the pool afterwards.
Some guys never get an answer, despite having passed the assessment day and met the benchmark requirements.
Dont forget, the guys n gals doing the assessment are not the ones who make the decisions . Its still the same old HR , and ultimately the most cost effective candidate will usually be successful.

I've been in the DEC hold pool for well over a year with not even a sniff of a chance of a course. Strange considering they were actively recruiting for the bases I chose. Who knows what their criteria is.

From my concern.... Is bad time now for people being at the pool now... They are making road shows for TCX people but no information or even a call to us being at the pool waiting to start.
I think they will give priority to these people from TCX unfortunately

Its normal companies prioratise those newapplicants. If you are still in the hold pool after more than 6 months, I feel you won’t be selected. The pool is for those who are not selected after interview

Ignore the above. Prioritising new applicants? If you are in the pool you havent been selected? What utter nonsense... If you hadn't met the criteria they wouldn't bother wasting your or their time. They'd just tell you that your application was not successful.
As a previous poster above has stated, the pool is standard procedure whilst they work out course dates and base allocation, At the moment i suspect they have a great deal of forward thinking to do with potential Brexit and the unfortunate demise of Thomas cook...
sadly if you read highfives post history he/she seems to troll most posts asking about airline selections and making people fear the worst... I'd disregard the negativity and try and stay positive.

Agree, strobelightson. They've been very informative since being in the pool. If I bid far and wide for bases I would've had a start date ages ago but I'm after one base in particular and its very popular hence why I'm still in the pool. No stress for me, I already have a job so I'm not desperate :-)

[QUOTE=strobelighton;10583449]Ignore the above.
So if the pool is such a great place to be, why would Jet2’s fwd thinking regds the failure thomas cook make the slightest bit of difference? It will.
You imply that once the assesments are passed, a job offer will follow.
NOT true! The J2 pool is a collection of applicants that have passed the and reached minimum level set by J2. Thats it.
Many pass their assesment days, but never start. Why? Well because another candidate is more suitable, wether rated, chooses the base that’s recruiting, or simply scored higher in the assesment.
I never understand why companies feel they want to attract those who are only showing interest in their company simply because they are unemployed. The guys in a pool have chosen to join that airline, not because they have limited options, but because they want to work there.and are prepared to leave current employment to join their next career step.
How many TC guys applied to J2 a year or two ago? How many ridiculed the multi sector J2 roster, while they jetted off to the caribbean? “Were off on holiday, cant believe you are doing those crazy summer rosters, with no layovers. or lays “
Ps Ive no idea what a troll is .

Unless you are a low hour wannabe , it would be a brave move to join TC with the likelihood of significant downward corrections in the european leisure travel business. Read contraction.

I never implied a job offer would follow, However your post suggests that any people in the holding pool have somehow probably been 'passed over', which is simply and factually not the case, if it meant one had failed in some way they simply wouldn't go to the trouble to leave a candidate 'hanging on'... what would be the point in that for anyone involved?
Without knowing the individuals involved, I'm not sure it is an accurate statement to make a sweeping generalisation about someone's employment prospects or whether they have been successful at selection based on a few sentences on pprune where they are ultimately seeking reassurance, and haven't posted anything to suggest otherwise.
The game is hard and uncertain enough without people needlessly fanning the flames of doubt.
I suppose companies show interest as they have the pick of a large group of experienced pilots, available to start with very little notice, which makes life easy from a planning point of view... but I'm sure they'll have to go through the selection just like everybody else... and maybe end up in a hold pool whilst they coordinate who is going to fit where? Or does everyone they interview just start immediately the day after?

Strobe, fair points you make. I would add there is a post earlier who says they've been in the pool for a long while, a year? I would not hold out too much if this was me.
The TC guys are all Airbus, J2 prefer Boeing, but lets see. They interviewed a whole load of pilots over the last 3 months, will be interesting to see how many offers are made, and if TC guys jump the queue.
Gotta go, Heading out to the Lotto now....

I know guys who were in the hold pool a year and got jobs and I know guys who were TR and got early release from previous employers and were on a course two weeks later. I would suggest if you have been in the pool that long to give them a ring, they are friendly enough and at least it reminds them you are there.
I don't know exactly what goes into the decision on who gets a course and when but I believe it is based on how well you scored overall through the process and your base/fleet preferences matching up to the dates of the courses they have scheduled. There is also a matrix that exists whereby someone who has more than 500 HR jet time will get priority over someone who doesn't. For example if you are a TR DEC looking for a STN base I would imagine they would bite your arm off as opposed to a NTR low hour FO who is only willing to move to ALC.
Boeing vs Airbus makes no difference if NTR, same time to complete a full TR.
