I think he means - if there is no other airline that flies the Q400 then who will they complete their MPL with.? Not sure it would be that difficult for another airline to do a short conversion course and take the crew.

It's happened before and the cadets got placed with other airlines (don't quote me but I think it was easy).
I am at Flybe but I am in my notice period, I've got nothing to gain from dressing it up but my take on it is the biggest risk at the moment is the negative press and crew levels for next summer. Flybe do have a good business, revenue is stronger than ever however the cost base is way too high so something has to give and quite quickly. I think either Flybe or a new owner will be acting reasonably swiftly to strip out loss making routes and possibly bases. We're not that far away from handing back some more embraers which will save millions per year. I think they'll do a few other things too that I'll keep to myself. I know the rough figure that the CAA will pull the plug and all I'll say is we are nowhere near that yet. I think Flybe will be ok but I don't think they'll be recognisable as they are today. Just remember this is only my personal opinion and has no bearing on any strategies or anything that's coming from within.

The mpl student flybe do something like 60hr of single engine plane, 15hr of multi engine then 110hr of 737 !!!! Yes 737 but with Flybe SOP. Then they do a normal dash 8 type rating !!!
So it would be easy to convert them to whatever other type rating after the 737 module.
For the one already in, I spoke with some and it seems they can already convert their MPL in a CPL / IR / ME if they do appropriate training (not need to do the full stuff) or wait the 1500hr for the ATPL.

Virgin’s proven track record at losing money alongside Flybe’s? (The two airlines historically have sketchy records of profitability and historically bankrolled by sugar daddies, both of which no longer there). I’d hardly think that’s an unfair description. (And you won’t find anyone more pro Flybe than me).

VS regardless is continuing to operate successfully with albeit smaller than many but great presence. This injection into FlyBe has to be good news for the VS for connectivity and good news for Flybe to get a different direction.
An option has to be better than nothing. Anyhow - FlyBe’s current strategy is simply not working so better to have it shrink and re grow.... either way it needs to change and someone interested in it - in one way or another has to be good news......
Surely you cannot expect them to inject money and keep running with out cuts or changes as the model at present is simply unsustainable ........

awaiting final European nonsense before they can implement or announce any changes. Should be done by July then will start changes possibly with new virgin style name

I’m considering applying DEC to be closer to home, I’m well aware of the many flaws that working for Flybe entails but just wondering if you are effectively a local near a base, if it’s a happy work life balance, dare I say it!

Yep, it is what it is. The problem with pilots is they'll whinge their tits off at the first given opportunity. If you join you're joining a multi base, regional airline. Things WILL go wrong, you WILL be disrupted and you WILL work hard. You can have a life if you go in with your eyes open and remember you should know what you're signing up for, if you don't you haven't done your research.
