Interesting.... Does anyone have any idea of numbers required?

I'm guessing the guys/gals being given an interview were previously told no at the initial application a few months ago!?

BZ that is broadly correct. There is a potential additional requirement for reasons not yet for public consumption as final decisions have yet to be made.

For this reason numbers are nothing more than speculation. A rumour network this may be but from my perspective this is an exception so I won't be speculating.

Bearing in mind the above, my strong suspicion is that the actual application process won't be reopened in full, it will be a review of those already in the system. Do NOT take that as gospel as I am NOT involved in that decision so my advice remains to keep your ear to the ground.

Good luck to all.

Candidates called for interview are those who already have an application on file from last September.

I was contacted yesterday and was invited down for assessment on the 3rd/4th of feb after having a rejection when I applied late last year without being invited for interview.

Any idea what assessment is like ? How many days it would take ? There's nothing mentioned about simulator. Are you supposed to go for a sim or is it like Norwegian only interview ?

^ No sim involved previously... But as stated above this time round looks like a two day selection?!

Correct me if I'm wrong but Thomson don't have sims at EMA. - unless they are borrowing one of Ryanairs...! Hehehe

It is a one day event. Group exercise and case study. If successful with that there will be an individual interview.

Start dates 22nd of April and the 6th of May.

Thomson don't have sims anywhere, but they use them all over the place, and for recruitment they can use almost any type.

There is no simulator assessment for experienced candidates who are already type rated, just a one day assessment centre. For cadet entry positions there is a simulator session which would usually be undertaken at our main sim provider Boeing in Gatwick on the NG sim.

For the final time!

There is the POSSIBILITY of an additional requirement for pilots over and above those who have already been recruited and who have start dates in Feb and Mar.

The first of these places, IF they come to fruition will PRESUMABLY go to those in the Hold Pool as they have already been through selection and been selected. There is no reason to believe this will not be the case but I do NOT make that decision but I talk regularly to the bloke who does.

As time will be short, SHOULD this come off, the company have been smart and reopened recruitment in case they have to move sharpish to fill any additional places BEYOND the Hold Pool. Being invited to selection does NOT constitute an offer of employment and can therefore been done without penalty because if it doesn't come off there is not yet any contractual binding.

The guys in the Hold Pool have not yet been offered a job because the additional need might not come to pass - that discussion is still ongoing. This is because they are already selected so the next and only communication they can be given is an offer of employment. That will not happen until the additional requirement is definitively shown to exist and that in turn depends on a decision yet to be made.

So, if you are in the Pool and fretting, stop! To the best of my knowledge and with the usual Health Warning, I can't see any reason why you wouldn't be the very next through the door. To avoid you firebombing me if it all goes wrong, please remember that I can only give my opinion based on the best information I have and others ay change this at short notice.

Please do not PM me on fishing trips, all there is to be said is said above.

Good luck to those coming to recruitment and I sincerely hope the additional need materialises for lots of reasons.

Start dates for guys that are SUCCESSFUL attending assessments on the 3rd and 4th of Feb at EMA are the 22nd of April and the 6th of May. That is what is stated in the assessment invitation. They will be required to attend their initial training courses at LTN on either of those dates.

GA F15, does your invitation say whether or not it is still the 80% contract offered? From what I've read it's all still very confusing, with some guys being offered interviews with prospective start dates, Yeoman saying a new course hasn't been decided on yet and with people in the holding pool not hearing anything conclusive from Thomson.... There definitely still seems to be a lot of uncertainty so I guess we'll have to be patient and wait and see! Cheers

Padraig

The decision has STILL not been made. The guys who have been invited to selection would almost certainly be in the Part Time Part Year 50 contract (PPY50). They work all summer and 50% of the winter. It's a bit more complex than that but yes, it comes out at about 80% for various reasons.

As I explained above, the Hold Pool will almost certainly come in to fill part of any additional requirement SHOULD it materialise, these other guys are a top up if the requirement exceeds the 6 in the pool.

As you say, until the decision is made and only then if there really IS an additional requirement, patience is the only answer!

Yeoman is absolutely correct. The applicants interviewing on the 3rd and 4th at EMA are for PPY50.
