Curiously, the DEFO ad on the ALT site was replaced by a listing for a:
Manpower Planning Analyst
in the last few days. Interesting.

Bombs away...
With all due respect, you are talking utter rubbish!
I'm sorry if you didn't get the job. Truth is, someone who performed better than you at assessment probably got the call. Harsh, but true.
If you ask me you're better off anyway. Couldn't organise a pish up in a brewery. Going to the dogs this place.

The application form allows for very little distinction and people with almost identical applications have had different outcomes.
Anyone have any ideas?

Yes, there is no way (even in lala land) that Aer Lingus could make an informed choice regarding who to call in for assessments on the basis of that most simple of application forms. This points towards it being nothing more than a HR exercise which would be the best method of hiding the blatant nepotism. Think about it. Ireland being a fairly small country, you'd be daft to think it (looking after your own) doesn't happen.

You guys should realise by now that unless your related to someone who works for em you aint got a hope
The vast majority of pilots came through the usual sources. Some from integrated others modular, Aer Arran, Ryanair and the Aer Corps etc etc.
Google the chief pilot and read up on how she got into AL if you don't believe me. Absolutely no connections whatsoever and now in the big seat.

One thing you have to know about the EI HR dept is, they are as incompetent as they come. They dislike the flight crew fraternity, and would probably go out of their way to choose someone because they were not related to a current EI pilot.
I know there have been cases in the past, but they seem to not like to be told who to interview. I myself, do not see any harm in being able to vouch for someone, and let them go through the recruitment process as every other joe.
They will be recruiting again, their are a huge number of guys moving onto pastures new. Just waiting for start dates and the like.
There is no system in place to help them choose whom to interview, apart from the top few forms in front of them at the precise moment in time they are asked to fill interview slots. They have no real comprehension of what a/c types are, or what quality experience is. You will find that the odd one will know of Oxford or Jerez as an approved school, only because they were used by them at one point for cadets. But there is no real understanding of what they should be looking for. I'm not into starting a debate on schools, just trying to highlight that there is no real reason why some were called, and some not.
Good luck to all of those looking for a move to EI, but be under no illusion you will not be working for a legacy carrier. Their are better place to rest your hat.

If you didn't make it, it's because someone else was better. Deal with it.

The brick wall smiley sums it up nicely.
They have spent the last 6 months turning really good candidates away for no good reason, and haven't filled all the seats.
End result is they need to bring in contractors. I'd love to know what the current piloting community in EI think of that!?
