whoever updated the Aer Lingus ROI contract on ppjn gave the Belfast Ts and Cs.
So the brief payscales on the left hand side are more accurate (although not 100% accurate I believe)

Whilst the ROI base money might "headline" as respectable compared to some carriers out there I can assure you that after you deduct pension contribution (11%), PRSI, income tax, USC levies and union fees that your take home is not healthy at all.
Put them through an online tax calculator though to put it into perspective and to take into account of each persons different circumstances eg: kiddies etc.
As an example I take home 55% of my gross - 45% in taxes and pensions. And the worst bit is that it is only going to get worse as I hit the higher tax band and also given the current economic backdrop and no doubt higher taxes/levies/charges to come from the government. The Northern brethren could well be laughing all the way to the bank

Anyone able to give a ballpark figure for a single chap with no kids that would be eventually hired by AL on the Irish/English FO contract, given the average flight activity, after taxes ant social contributions?

I can't speak for the Irish contract but the UK contract for BHD and LGW is a starting salary of approximately £42,000 with flight pay in the region of £9k. I believe it is due to go up in the near future.

Great to see an airline expanding like this in such difficult circumstances and also great to see the return of a proper cadet pilot scheme.

Take Home Pay
Hi guys,
I know there is talk of a new pay deal in EI, anyone got an update?
Could someone please give an idea as to what a year one fo might get as take home pay. Also, I hear it is mandatory to join the union, is this true? If so, what are the dews etc.
I have looked at PPJN but I just want an idea of the reality, have a big decision to make.

I asked this very question to a guy I trained with who works for EI. On a year 1 Irish contract he averages €3300 take home a month after pension and union deductions.
Pay negotiations are ongoing with industrial action a real possibility in the near future

55000 Euros into an online Irish tax calculator equates to 3100 Euros a month net. So 3300 Euros sounds reasonable including sector pay, albeit for a quietish month?

No news on the pay review yet. But one rumour I did hear is that the Irish Revenue are looking to tax sector pay in line with other tax authorities around Europe. This would make a big difference to a new FO as sector pay can make up a significant proportion of your earnings depending on how you bid and if you are inclined to do double sector days. Much in the same way that performance pay did when we got that.
