Iberia Express will need 450 pilots
Iberia is about to create a low cost medium haul, starting Feb 2011. They might start to recruit in November this year.
Req. are:
A320 Type rating and 500 hours on type for FOs.
Spanish language ICAO Level 4 is an advantage
Salary as sh*** as in Vueling. Expect 2000 euros take home a month and to work hard.

Anyone willing to deal with the useless spanish ATC on a daily basis ? 
I hope this low cost branch will manage to compete against Ryanair & easyJet, it can only mean more jobs in the business (what most people here have been waiting for a loooong time).

Finally someone hiring. Where do I apply? Finally gonna get out of my desk-job hopefully, and fly a real Airbus instead of pretending on flight sim all days long.
Pay is a bit less then i'm making now, but at least the job is a lot cooler!! Rather fly for less then work my miserable desk job for more. "If you love what you do, you never work a day" Right?

Hope you don't mind me asking 767PL, but if you currently have a desk job earning not much than 2000 euros how will you manage to get the 500 hours on type required?
Do you have a wealthy family who can support you if you decide buy 500 hours on a pay-to-fly scheme? (serious question not having a dig at you)...
I'm just curious how so many newbies can afford to do this unless they get some help? And is it really possible to buy a whole 500 hours from an airline? Wow!
Best of luck in your application, don't forget to buy a couple of hours in the sim before the interview to give yourself a head-start on the other guys

Anyway, yeah, for the right seat they will probably get more 200 hour wet-behind-the-ears applicant CVs than they know what to do with.
Current A320 captains not so common these days though, especially these days when there's so many contracts out east paying north of $US15K / month.
Yes of course life in Spain is better ... but for the money I'd rather just work 3 months in China and take the rest of the year off to go kite surfing in Tarifa

As LST pointed out contract rates are seeing considerably more.
if these guys are basing their business plan and financials on this kind of projection, it wont be long before the whole thing turns into a SNAFU.

They registered the Iberia express name but it is a tool to pressure Iberia pilots.
Sepla Iberia pilots has a clause limiting growth without their consent in Madrid. Dont think it will be so easy for Iberia when they risk a nasty strike from a powerful union.
The reality is there are some tricky negotiations for a collective agreement with Sepla Iberia pilots andand it is very much remains to be seen.

Many people with airbus experience

Do not forget that many airlines fell down in the past recent years not only in Spain but in Europe as well.
I could think of 500 Airbus experience pilots or more,and probably many of them,if not all, spanish native speakers.
Only in Spain,from 2006 many airlines such as Air Madrid,Futura,Lte international,Air comet(plus turboprop commuter airlines)..went bankruptcy,not to mention those other airlines that fired many many Airbus type rated pilots like Spanair,Vueling-Clickair,because of fleet reduction...etc,..etc...furthermore, many other pilots not type rated and fired at that time,had to move away to..middle east,asia...and now they air A320/A330 type rated as well.
I´m not saying that there is not enough room for low-hour experience pilots,but it is going to be really hard,however, obviously not impossible.
In my opinion,if Iberia in the end,decides to for the low cost option,and, they know how the market is right now,the best and quick option is to hire experience and rated pilots to be able to fly in less than 2 months.(A)
On the other hand,like many times in the past 15 years,they could arrange a huge mega-exam an get 500 pilots both high and low experience,and train them according to growth needs (B).
Either option A or B the salaries will not be the same again,but I do not think Iberia managers are stupid!!,salaries won´t equal to those in Vueling last level,because otherwise won´t get high experience pilots in a short time.
For instance,let´s say something in the middle of the road, a salary of 3000 €/month from the beginning,probably it would interest many pilots even earning less than their present jobs thousand miles away from home,but a chance to come back with their families and live in their country.
