Yep same here but 73 rated. Applied a few times over the years and never heard a peep.

Having called jet2 AGAIN in the last month or so to be told "you'll hear either way", and having had an application in since May of last year, i don't hold out much hope. 3,700 hours TT, 3,500 737!

Given that the company have stated that they now have a pool of about 100 pilots who have passed the selection but for whom they don't have jobs at the moment, I think it's safe to say that those who have applied but not heard anything are unlikely to be offered a job for this summer. Not saying that this is how it should be, I think the companies communication skills leave a lot to be desired, but I'm afraid that's how it is at the moment.

Jet 2

I am in a similar situation to the above posters, thousands of hours, current on the NG/CL, low cost, low risk and happy to relocate

I would have thought a well established company such as J2 would have a good IT/HR department. How difficult can it be to send out a standard Yes/Maybe/PFO email?. We are not looking for a gold embossed PFO letter

From all accounts the online application form is a complete farce. Many applications disappearing into cyberspace.

Rant Off
Good evening

The chaotic shambles that is the recruitment system gives you a pretty good idea of what lies inside the company. However, for those of you naive/stupid/ desperate enough (delete as applicable) to want to find out the hard way, don't worry as the attrition levels are so high they'll always need more.

When the H-uman R-emains administrators, in their windowless offices of incompetence, become more powerful than the Flight Operations professionals, say goodbye to any reasonable structure and common sense with regard to pilot recruitment. Animosity and contempt between the two departments will abound.

It was for the 757.

Jet 2 is a good company to work for, particularly in these hard times. The company is continually expanding, all bases are in the UK, we get a 5% pay rise in Apr with a quicker promotion to SFO for those with experience and we probably fly only 500-600 hours a year. Its not the best if you want to live for work but well up there if you want to work to live.

For what its worth the HR director is well aware of the failings of the online recruitment process but it is caused by overwhelming demand. Almost 4000 applications for 80 jobs and almost 400 invited to interview.

The online system is a legacy system from the ChanEx days and is being replaced this summer. The intention is to hopefully to contact those who applied with the right skills and invite them back in the late summer or early autumn.

As well as the pilot recruitment the small HR team had to deal with 16000 other applications for other Jet 2 jobs. As you will appreciate not a small task. Its always disappointing when applications get lost but hopefully the new system will reduce some of the frustrations. Its obviously not great when an individuals first impression of a company is a 'confused' recruitment process.

Regards

I understand it was for B757 type rated FOs for fixed contract.

I hazard a guess there were no type rated 75 FOs in the hold pool??

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can tell me if that if you are recruited by Jet2 type-rated on the 737 classic does the sim training include the NG or does it depend on where you are based? AM I correct in saying that MAN has 3 NG's and LBA just the one.

Many thanks in advance.

Jamieboy

Man has 2 based NGs. The other 2 will be based in GLA for this summer, making a total of 4 (not 5 as stated elsewhere). All other 737 bases will have -300s/300QCs.

Jet2 Assessment

The compass test is alive and well and appears to be the be all and end all of recruitment. Interview, experience, ability to relocate etc mean nothing. Unless you're young and good at computer games, don't waste your time.

Ahh what would we do without HR drones, gotta love em? Maybe not!
I suppose if you've got a lot of bods applying but they used to have the very hard maths and English test anyway that could be used to filter people.

Still, you work with a nice bunch of people there.

"Unless you're young and good at computer games, don't waste your time."

... rumour has it that some 'old farts' have got through...!! Quite likely that quite a lot who are "...young and good at computer games..." haven't got through! Square that one with the above quote!

I had an assessment with Jet2, found HR to be very accommodating. Am currently on reserve, if I do not get through this year I will certainly try again next year.

I have found the recruitment company to be helpfull (as much as they can anyway )

Yes the Compass Test is maddening but there are hurdles with most jobs etc... Hope some of you direct guys made it out of the hold pool!

Happy flying to all
