Some of the comments that are posted on here about Jet2 are absolute drivel and tosh. If you are thinking of joining the company for goodness sakes do not listen to some of the bitter and twisted comments. Come to a pilot a recruitment day where you will hear the truth, no gilded lilly. I know as i have been to a couple. They will have F/O's and Captains from the line there for you to quiz. You will here comments starting with "Well its not perfect .....", there is no point in Jet 2 management telling you it is better than it is as that just leads to disappointment.
Some facts my understanding is that all F/O's on 70% contracts have so far had 100% percent contracts discussed with them by HR. The company is recruiting ! There is a healthy mix of military,Ab initio, Turbo Prop and current jet experience. The military do not get a choice of base, quick commands etc etc etc. If someone who has been a fast jet instructor joins us and sits in the right seat for 12-18 months to learn a new trade and has the sim check results and close to 3500-4000 hours and makes the grade on command assessment why shouldn't they get a command ?
From what i have seen all the militray types that have joined us in the last round have the right attitude, they are fitting in well and they know the score ie work hard, keep your head down, get the sim check results and a command will be sooner rather than later. The same set of criteria that applies to the turbo prop commands that join us in the RHS.
Now as for the future, its looking very exciting there is a lot of varied flying on the horizon. Yes this is pro Jet 2 as personally i enjoy working there and its the most balanced and varied airline flying i have ever had.
So do you listen to the Doom mongers and the ones on here who will tell you that you are being underpaid etc or do you come along to a recruitment day, listen to whats said to you ? Come and talk to the line pilots and make your own mind up. You may never be a millionaire working for Jet2 but it will never be dull and opportunities will come up to advance in other areas i reckon faster than any other airline. It depends what you want ? Number 600 on a seniority list waiting your turn or a Job in an expanding growing airline !!
Yes that is a positive post. Yes it will be attacked and picked apart by some. But all i say is make your own mind up and come along and have a look you may well be surprised !!!!

Captainkingkong, thank you for your balanced and informative post. As an experienced (ish!) F/O and Jet2 prospective I appreciate the information. As for 'tomuchwork' - please keep your ramblings to yourself, your post contains no facts whatsoever and even 'rumour' is thin on the ground.
Can anyone comment (capt or f/o) on current working arrangements, hours rostered, days off....just to get an up to date idea of the work/life balance one might expect. Info on take home pay would be appreciated too. Thanks!

Bountyhunter.
It really varies from base to base to be honest. Some bases are small but have a higher workload, but on average i personally fly around 550 hours per year. I take home between £2600 and £3100. But i contribute £250 per month to the pension, so things will vary.
Friendly people, and pilot management you can have open honest conversation with.
Show up on time, stick to the SOPS.......

Bla,
It's approx. £4000 - varies Month on Month with the roster. Typically high season £4400, low season £3800.
I mirror some comments here, Jet2 is what it is - A Low Cost Airline. They are exanding and learning quickly. I say learning as there are many new people bringing experience and new ideas. We are several things all in one, a Scedule Low Cost, a Charter, a Freight carrier - a reactionary Airline.
Our boss has steered us through pretty much the worst recession in modern history - and we're not out of it! yet we, Jet2 are expanding and recruiting, so something must me working for us!!!
Exciting time ahead here at Jet2, not the best payers in the world, not the best T&C's either, nethertheless, it's an airline where you can realise time to command relatively quickly, so if you live near any of our bases and want to progress your carreer, Jet2 is an OPTION!
Hope that helps

Thanks for the replies! Just to clarify tonker, that is actual net pay, in your pocket at the end of the day. I just wanted to double check as it's make or break for me! Thanks again.

For some Jet2 is an airline of choice. Being from oop north, I would be happy to work for them for as long as they needed me, if only I could get them interested. The lifestyle and basing would be perfect for me, and enable me to stay in the area close to family and friends. They might not be the best in terms of pay, but there are worse out there, and the people you work with seem to be a great bunch. A friend of mine has worked for them for several years and seems very happy with his lot.

FO Salary...
Mungo Man:
Perhaps try looking back just one page where Tonker quotes what he earns...
Can someone PM me the Jet2 FO salary please? PPJN is quite out of date.
Cheers.

I've trawled through the pages and searched the thread about the TR.
From what I gather the TR is around 20k at Jet2. Is this still currently the situation? Plus is it still required upfront and not taken back via salary over a bonded period?
