So the web designers/ginger beers/route revenue analysts/management accountants etc get a competitive/excellent salary, and the pilot get what? No salary mention at all! Says it all about our industry these days. How much does it cost to get this job?

Hi Guys and Gals,

See on flight international Jet 2 are advertising for Captains, First Officers and Senior First Officers with various contracts and EXCELLENT BENIFITS. Firstly what are excellent benefits and secondly what is the starting salary for a senior first officer? Have terms and conditions improved at Jet 2 or is it the usual marketing ploy?

papazulu, many thanks, that has cleared up the mystery of how to update my details after 2 months of trying!

Just out of interest this is a very popular thread so obviously lots of applications going in to Jet2. What is everyone elses backgrounds? Mine is 1300tt bizjets long/short haul. 950 jet but no airline experience.

Be interesting to see some other peoples.

Having applied in April following a conversation with the recruitment team, I tried to log on today to update my application and it has deleted my application due to a technical problem.

Wonderful, I guess its a sign.

Jet2 are an appalling outfit.

I can understand why the low-houred mob would join Jet2, but for anyone who is a family man, or who wants to be treated like a human, then forget it. Jet2 is simply not worth it.

Over the years the company has a history of horrendous examples of screwing flight crews. These are not one-off affairs, but an in-bred obsession which is now close to an art form.

I'm sure the Jet2 lovers will be along to defend the indefensible, but having lived through the hell of unreasonable buffoons and yes-men who only look out for themselves, I can assure you that my own personal experience, and that of my many colleagues, will highlight the fact that only the desperate need apply.

For those who are experienced, there are better things out there. In the recent last couple of years, Jet2 deluded themselves they were some airline of choice. Instead they were a port to shelter in the economic storm. The current numbers of flight crew who are applying to other airlines is significant. It tells you something when captains leave to take up F/O positions.

Derestrtictor

Everyone deserves a first hearing so on the assumption you are not a troll may I ask when did you leave?

My personal experience is unrecognisable from the one you have described.

Capts leaving to become FO's tells me the majors are now recruiting and that is where those individuals career aspirations lie.

No job is perfect and I agree there is room for improvement but it is a long way from being an appalling oufit.

I too am a family man and I came to the airlines after 22 yrs in the mil. We based ourselves oop north and 2 munchkins came along in my early 40's. I chose to fly short haul and live in a beautiful part of the world close to where I fly from for quality of life. At my age I also appreciate the career progression on offer in Jet2 compared to the majors.

Those are the facts as I see them, not a defense of the indefensible. I'd be very interested to know the facts behind your experience within the company to support your stance.

They are not perfect and can be at times "clumsy", but since i have joined i have on two occasions had acute medical family problems.

The first time and not long after i joined i was rang back immediately by the flight ops director and was told i had the next tow weeks roster wiped clean and if i needed more just ring back. A few weeks ago and again in the **** with one of my children in an accident, i again had my roster replaced with holiday this time.

From what others who have experienced other airline regimes have told me, they still are a friendly airline to work for.

Is it true that Manchester BMI baby captains will be transferred to J2, ahead of J2 F/O's who are due for upgrade?

Ex military....the magic word

Sorry jpboy, but the reason why you're experience with jet2 seems so different is because you're ex military. This puts you in RLs little club from the off with all the added benefits of leapfrogging command, choosing your base, training positions etc. Oh, and just how many civilian joiners compared to ex mil do you think were offered 100% contracts last year?

jet1234

I think there were 16 of us recruited at roughly the same time (based on attendance at the CRM cse) of which 2 were ex-mil. If the rumours are correct 1 individual was let go at the end of their summer contract, all the rest were offered 100% contracts.

Basing as an FO was the one which appeared on my contract and as a Capt was decided by date of completion of command cse.

I can only call it based on my experience and the treatment I have witnessed handed out to colleagues from all backgrounds. As with the RAF and my previous employer I know of cases where the airline could have done much better but that is very different from an "appalling outfit that has an in-bred obsession with screwing flight crews".

Good luck to all those thinking of applying.

ex military....the chosen ones

As in all walks of life those in positions of privilege always believe it to be a level playing field.

First time I've ever been thought of as privileged, my Old Man will be turning in his grave!

Many will read this forum to get a feel for the Company. I posted because I believe some of the comments were harsh and have answered specific criticisms with facts. If those facts don't match your mental model, so be it.

To avoid thread creep shall I wrap up by saying;

Derestrtictor, it is sad that your memories of the Company are so bitter, I hope you are in a happier place now.

jet1234, as in all walks of life perceptions differ with the individual which is why I tried to stick to the facts. All the best for the future.

Most of all good luck to all those thinking of applying.
