LH is changing the CEO of LHI because its not running realy good.
So the EN CEO is taking that position in LHI and of course rumours of a merger of EN and LHI will come up, thats normal, but I guess for the time it will not happen.

@lapinepas the problem is, that the italian market is extremly bad for pilots at the moment. There are no jobs, LH is taking advantage with LHI out of this, offering the lowest contract in italy, it is so bad that most of the italian A320 rated pilots take jobs abroad instead of joining LHI, and thats the reason why LHI dont get many A320 rated pilots.

@lapinepas I am fully aware that the conditions at LHI are one of the worst in Italy and unless you guys strike non-stop (or LH mainline gets in real trouble), you will never have the same salary as your German mainline counterparts. It is sad, but true. If you guys weren't much cheaper, there would be no use in hiring you. Same goes for all LH Regionals.
Therefore, LHI is mainly for young FOs that need a rating and some hours and are willing to take a risk, as it is not 100% if LHI is going to survive in the long-term. And should LHI be going bancrupt one day, I can't see any merger with EN coming. Why should there be one? Aircraft are still owned by LH, people will be fired and EN will take over some of the routes or not.

@greenpilots
If Lhi is successful and pilots unionize I think the contract could be better then the german One. Given also the fact that lh pilots Are far away from been the best paid in the business.

@lapinpas
If you Are serious about breaking the bond plz pm, I might be of some Help. Just 2 word of advise: before You leave the company try to' get in touch with the italians: some of use Are very angry and ready to escalate. Afterall this is not ireland and no ryanair.

I'm waiting to sign my contract at the moment, and I'm starting to worry because of everything I read here...Can you please give us some facts ??! I'm mean, nobody is answering to PM and it's quite hard to find details abouts the T&C.
What is so wrong with LHI ? (if there is somthing wrong) is it the salary, the atmosphere, the roster, ... Give us some informations and so we'll be able to make our own opinion !!!

Arewerunning.

Right on the numbers.

Just a small integration for those wondering:

1-numbers are after taxes
2-numbers include per diems
3- basic salary is very very low. (basically no pension)
4-no health insurance (...and it is mandatory according italian laws)
5-no private retirement (...also this one it's mandary according italian laws)

In the end, the germans get perks in lhi, the italians get ****.

Stay away

ps: I mean if you are desperate go there, if you are there already...well your F@%ked

C´mon folks, get real.
It´s not about "Germans" or "Italians", so please don´t go down that road.

The LH line pilots currently operating LHI are employed by LH and get sent down there just like on any other multiple day tour through Europe on the A320 fleets.

What perks?

The guys being trained to be capatains at LHI will get a leave of absence from LH-mainline and will be operating under a LHI-contract that is so crappy, that they had to better the pay a bit just to get enough guys to apply in the first place.
The pay is very low for a A320 captain.
It only works for "young" guys way down on the seniority/pay-list and willing to relocate.
No relocation package either.

What perks?

The pay for LHI FOs stinks.
What did you expect?
And don´t even dream about getting into LH-mainline and the contract - management doesn´t want that - it would be too expensive.

LHI is a laboratory for management (the former lady-CEO will now become the boss of the FAs in Munich, btw.) to see if they can sell (!!) the Lufthansa-brand "produced" in a "cheap-labor"-country, albeit at far lower "production costs" than in Germany.

It´s only about spending as little money as possible.
It is not about people.

Good luck to all of you,
honestly!

No health insurance?? It seems too big to be true...How can they do that if this is mandatory? I think I will wait to have the contract in front of me...

You better do....and read it over and over!

LH(i) lawyers are forced, and paid for, to squeeze you out.

And believe me, I know what I'm talking about.....

If I were u unless u r low on experience, I wouldn't go to LHI.

I have some friends there too and they feel quite unconfortable now,not only because of the extremely bad contract but also for those rumors,(actually are more than rumors) that Aid Dolomiti is going to take over with their pilots so this cuts off the main reason to go there which was fast track to CPT!

Hi Drago72,

but why are they still doing screenings if they don't wanna hire us eventually?I guess people would get really crazy after they passed all of this crazy screening proces!??

Anyone knows something more?

The bigger the pool of folks they can pick from, the worse the T&Cs!
It just gives them more options and FLEXIBILITY.

Top management by Air Dolomiti now.
Operational managers stay the same.

Wouldn´t be too sure about them NOT flying as LHI, either.
AND the Air Dolomiti folks are probably way too expensive, too...

LHI is better than being unemployed (as a pilot), I guess - And that´s not cynical.

My experience has been slightly above my expectations. Germans actually seemed nice.

Ms. Geiger has sent the e-mail regarding time and place for BU/GU assessment and I have a small correction to make. The room number is P48 (also on the 5th floor) instead of P50.

The examiner was on time as germans usually do, and there has been a 30 minute introduction of the structure of these tests and the day schedule.
Seats were assigned previously, no chance of getting a seat far from examiner of your choice.
They made their effort to ensure we were all at ease, breaking the ice during this time. This was the time to deliver all the paperwork and check our documents.

About the tests (only a single examiner on the room):
[ENS] - Same difficulty, smaller test though, arround 60 questions. (35 minutes)

[SKT] - Concentration - As difficult as in level 2. Time stops during exam, so you cannot complete the full exercice.

[RMS] - All level 2. In fact I think that as faster are numbers heard, the easier is to memorize more numbers. Keep your mind clear and just repeat to yourself as many numbers as you can remember after narration stops and put them backwards.

[VLR] - This one is lvl 2, seemed fairly easy. If it helps to remember which side (L/R) is to count turns have your (L/R) hand closed then count the numbers.

[KRN] - 10 written and 10 aural. Same as lvl 2 and very few lvl3. Time very limited, get as many answers in your mind as possible (READ PREVIOUS POSTS).
Written: Cube root of 512 = 8; 93/3+93=124;
Aural: 5 Elevated to the power of 4 = 625; 17*16=272;

[OWT] - Clocks are too big for such a small screen. Try to lean back so your eye distance to the visor increases thus increasing also your visual range to the numbers. I have no eyesight problem and sometimes these clocks were confusing me as they were too close/big.

[Personality test 1/2] - I guess no help for this one. Be honest as you can. I believe no correct answers on this one.

NO RAG - Mathematics nor TVT as said before.

LUNCH - «1 hour - No cafeteria/restaurant onsite, examiner will provide few suggestions nearby»

[VMC] - Use your brain...Do your best.

[ROT] - If it helps just to understand the exercise, build a paper cube and mark a red cross on a single surface. Then repeat the instructions provided on the test they have allowed to download. Train as hard as you can on level 1 till you get it. After that loose the cube and train your brain on a daily basis.

You can try to picture this as follows:
-Initial position: Front (Facing towards you)
Command: Front, Front (Means first turn will be downwards [read bottom] and second will be on the same axis - position is back (opposite to initial);
-If the cube is starting on Top:
Command: Left, Right, Right (Means first turn to Left side [facing Left], then Right Twice [Top again then facing Right].
-If the cube is starting on Front:
Command: Right, Right, Back, Left (Means first turn Right twice [but cross remains in Front] then move backwards [position will be TOP] and then Left [final position will be left].
REMEMBER YOU CANNOT TURN THE CUBE AROUND IT'S VERTICAL AXIS
Otherwise this would happen:
»»»Wrong interpretation for my last example - Right twice [cross in Back position] then Back [cross would go to Bottom] then turn Right [cross would go to Right]

[MIC] - As said before, plenty of time to learn the drill. Use it wisely and try to see it as a game. Stick will not behave as in a flight simulator. It's sluggish and turbulene is sometimes severe so try to lean back and get a good peripheral vision so you can keep track of every setting. Do not disregard the aural sequences. Easy!

I sincerely recommend any of you still to undertake the tests to read every single previous post. It may proove to be helpful on KRN and ATPL questions.

The assesment ends at 15:45/16h local so plenty of time to catch a flight before evening.

MY ADVICE: DO NOT USE ANY SOFTWARE OTHER THAN PROVIDED BY LH(I). It may help you to get the point on the exercises, but rules and tests are different. I wouldn't spend my money on that.

Still uncertain about the outcome, but if sucessful on this stage and Salary and work conditions as recently posted are confirmed I will not even bother to continue...

P.S. - PM if further questions, but I can't honestly remember much more than this.

Anyway, GOOD LUCK TO ALL.

I believe that too many people are talking without knowing the exact terms of the contract...

My advice: don't listen the haters, make your own opinion when you'll have the contract and if it doesn't fit with your ambition, just don't go !!!!
