Numerus clausus on theorical ATPL
I think it's time for a change, the security and the T&C's in every company around Europe are getting lower and lower, and for sure it will not stop soon as the place is crowded with new AB initio's ready to do anything to enter the airline business...and I can understand them, they have paid for the training now they want results. In my point of view the only way to stop this "massacre" is to put a numerus clausus on the ATPL theory. I think that it's time that the authorities around Europe do something.....

Hihi Microburst,
To be honest with you, I think I have met him when doing some safety pilot flight. You know the kind of "Me I had a shrimp business before, well my dady...and you
training captain leave me alone, I don't want to open this ops book, anyway within three years I will be captain and rule the world."

I know one who says that this job can be done by monkeys.
He said that after the experience gained payflying in a 737 somewhere in the Asia for a few months. He was so sure about his assertion...
He is probably a relative of Forrest, or even the monkeys

If they changed the ATPL question bank a bit more often, added back global climatology and morse then I'm sure that would slow things down a bit. Would also fill the CAA coffers some more too!

It's a fake good idea. Do you really think that because you master questions that you learned stupidly, you will be a good pilot ?

Im a strong believer in the fact that one should be able to persue whatever career of his/her fancy.
Having said that, as prostitution is not legal in many developped countries, TRTO should not be accessible to private customers.
Then one should be able to have a go at an aviation career (via an FTO) without buying the job thus ruining aviation as a profession.

A privat customer who pay to fly on his own is OK.
A privat customer who pay to fly to carry 150 passengers is NOT OK.
when this government is going to do something?
what the CAA would say if I ask for a job, and I pay for it...?
do you think they will say:
" oh that's very nice from your part, you take my job and you pay to do it, wonderful, here the application form and the bank account to pay the CAA, if you have some friends, let me know, because we love people like you who pay to work at the CAA..."
if I were you, I would send my CV to your CAA with the mention " I will pay to take your job away"

5 Rings,
So what you are saying is that the FTO's should be driving recruitment ?
That is a ridiculous statement and drives the recruitment controls to a profit generating third party which is actively driving T&C's south.
to use your analogy,
What you are saying is that pilots (prostitutes) who wish to provide their services to an operator (client) should only be able to do through an FTO (pimp).
Likewise, which is why pilots should be able to apply for positions on an equal basis, based on their license and ratings, not which pimp (FTO) they are restricted to apply and obtain a TR through.
Then one should be able to have a go at an aviation career (via an FTO) without buying the job thus ruining aviation as a profession.

Bruce,
there's obviously some sort of misunderstanding between us.
My point is that people should be able to finance their own initial trainng (CPL-ME-IR MCC and ATPL theory) if they can't embark on a sponsorship.
Nonetheless, TRTO access should be restricted to people who hold an employment contract with an airline, not an FTO nor TRTO or even an agency.
This would then provide a level ground from which airline could recruit, enable people to take their chance towards this career without forcing people into the P2F scam.
Hope my point of view is more clear now.

would be easier to prohibit the P2F scheme by respecting the LAW.
-minimum salary should be paid
-commercial license requires a salary
-P2F only for private or student pilots
-Airlines are not authorized to sell block of hours.it' not in their operator certificate, not in SOP, it' s NOWHERE!!!.
I let you remember these 4 CRITICAL points are already the LAW in Europe. In my point of view, the CAA and the department of labor (who is responsible of the control of the law) are GUILTY and should be prosecuted in civil court (before criminal court in case of a crash) .
it's time to take action against the CAA.
why nobody has balls, and look directly at the problem...it's illegal to pay a company and pay a block of hours. It's like renting a plane not from an aeroclub but from an airline and carry 150 pasengers on board.
it's madness!
(it's not even in the Lasor, I can not find "pay to fly with an airline", or "buy a block of hours")
