Slim,

Could i just put you straight on that one? Its not.

I have three flights in Nov. Five sectors in total. I work for a profitable company.

I dont think I have the best roster in the business either. But you certainly dont!!!!!! Im not bragging just wanted to get the facts straight.

Toodle pip.

Yeah, I know Maybe if I'd actually applied to an airline, even Ryanair, I might have got in eh? Then I could be carrying a home-made sammich and empty water bottle to work, being p!ssed upon from a great height by my management, flying 900 hours a year instead of 200 or so, spending 45 minutes at my destinations instead of having to hang around 5-Star resorts for a week at a time. Help me Slim! Help me!! Please get me into Ryanair before they make me spend Christmas and New Year in the Maldives with the bikini-clad hosties again!! (The ones who make us tea and coffee and pass us newspapers and serve up that lovely food that's got your p1ss boiling. Oh, we don't 'do' bags either. We just tip the loadies from the roll of notes in the aircraft safe )

Stone age? Seen our cockpit? All glass and here's something you'll not have seen. FMS, ACARS, all the whistle and bells with fully paid up subscriptions so it all works. Oh, sorry. Won't Michael pay all those for you?

Come in spinner!!!

I bet a friend when I posted about meals that you'd threaten to report me. He was more than happy to take the bet because, in his words "Nobody is that big a ". You just earned me a fiver. Thanks.

Love to be a fly on the wall for that one.........

Slimy: "Is that HMRC?"
Taxman: "Yes"
Slimy:"I'd like to report Flintstone, he's eating leftovers"
Taxman: "Y'know, they're right. You are a ". Click! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr....................

Ahhh, another Slim assumption gone wrong. We don't do charter luvvy. Clearly you've not moved among anything other than the spit and sawdust brigade so I'll explain that the taxes on these things don't even twitch the needle when you've that much money.

Seriously though, I'm starting to feel guilty. It's like watching the whole class rip into the special needs kid on the front row. Give it up Slim. I'm told by those who know you that you used to be a half-decent bloke but being blackboard monitor at East Midlands has clearly turned you. Give it up now, go away and come back under a new persona otherwise you'll forever be known for, well..........this.

Haven't you noticed that even your bestest friend hasn't pitched in to Abuse us? If she's not backing you up even you might consider the possibility that you are making an @rse of yourself. Again.

Slim,
I've watched this thread for ages now and have to come in, you've driven me to it - you really are the end, the last station on the line. Your rants only display your TOTAL ignorance Do you REALLY think that private jets are the domain of failed airline pilots?? Do you, do you really think that? Or as I suspect its the old green-eyed monster showing his face....

I've been flying bizjets and corporate for over 20 years and have made FAR more money for FAR less work, in FAR better environments than you'll ever see, whilst flying kit FAR nicer than you'll ever place your sad arse in.

Get back to your tiny, overcrowded crew room and plan your 4 sectors whilst I peruse the menu for my week long trip to the sun today, what shall I have? The albino lobster with the grated leopard's nose sauce, hmmm, had that last time, maybe I'll take the crayfish salad with a parmesan sauce..........

Cheerio, old chap, enjoy your sandwich and tepid water, thats if you get time to eat and drink it, I need to pack my bag for the tropics, bye

Salespeople, when they're on a mission somewhere, have their hotels paid for, their meals paid for, their transportation expenses paid for.

Why in hell should Ryanair pilots have to pay for hotels, meals, and so on ????

Someone is being ripped off here. And that is just so to allow Ryanair to make 100 million pounds profits when they would make 95 or 90 otherwise.

I find these individuals disgusting.

FRying

I think we have gone full circle now to the origin of the thread...and the answer is...because you allow it.

I am sure there is another thread somewhere about airlines vis business flying.
Flinty your specs are just a little rose tinted mais non?
Slim, just give it up and retreat with honour.

NOW BACK TO THE THREAD - PLEASE!

Not at all, way too long in the tooth for that. Just telling it how it is with the logbook and stained tie to prove it.

Bit late for that. According to the little message under his username he's banned. Shame really.

As for getting back on topic and answering the original question I fear it's too late for that (the answer) also. Too many SSTR (which, oddly, is an anagram of Slim's initials) crew hanging on contracts with massive debts. They dare not rebel because they'll be out on their ears carrying that huge loan in a file box.

My point (and there was one in all this) was not to bait Slim.......well, ok. I did but he asked for it.

No. My point for any wannabees watching this is that as I and others have said there is an alternative to the huge loan and buy a job approach and if you follow that alternative, exercise some patience, ingenuity, wit and win some luck there are more rewarding areas of aviation than being locked in the front of a low-cost aluminium tube and pedalling like a bloody hamster for the rest of your career, such as it will be by the time the buy-a-job brigade have finished whipping the rug out from under everyone.

Fifteen years in and I still enjoy going to work. Yes, I'm lucky. I have a near perfect job and not all bizjet jobs are like that but if you don't try, if you just follow the rest of the sheep, you'll never know will you? In fifteen years time where would you rather be? Trudging into a grey, insipid crew-room, fighting for elbow space at the desk with other 'contractors' all trying to conduct a reasonable pre-flight in too little time before flying there and back twice in the day to some arse-end-of-nowhere airport cunningly disguised as being near a major city while behind you overworked and underpaid CC flog Pringles in a desperate effort to make the rent this month............or looking forward to a quick flip to a major city while the boss conducts business, a run down to Nice/Olbia/(insert-latest-playground-of-the-rich-and-famous here) for the weekend or perhaps a few days in a ski resort?

Yes, it take a few years to build up to but for crying out loud, what's wrong with enjoying the journey?

Kumooz,
Rose tinted specs from Flinty?? I can't speak for him but the specs I look through are 100% obscured due to the amount of 'rose' on them, I can't see a thing through a haze of luxury hotels in luxury places eating luxury food whilst on the best allowances in the business and a salary that would make Slim wilt, but never mind, I'm not 'airline' so he'll never feel comfortable around me. I don't do enough 'sectors' and I don't work enough to call myself a 'real' pilot.

However lets hear from Slim about this, I spent 6 years flying the same plane as he does for FR, but in a different form, its called a B737-BBJ, a private jet!Obviously flown by people that can't fly the same jet in an airline because we're 'not, airline' - not only that but I also did a JAA TRI/TRE on this aircraft; so Slim, you'd better be careful for one day I might get to do your LPC, thats right, even me who 'only' flys corporate and private jets.

How about that? How awful for you........ Feel stupid? I bet you do, never mind you've given the whole PPrune community the best ever showing of one's arse ever possible. Thanks from all of us

A typical anti-Ryanair thread: a lot of bullying, ganging-up on individuals, the usual Chinese Whispers and misinformation. Is the undisguised vitriol actually necessary? You all sound like children.

He started it.

Seriously though Mike, I'm not looking for another spat (fun though it was) but am genuinely interested to know how the pro-RYR faction can cry foul when the situation(s) are there for all to see.

Pay for CV, interview, sim check.
Pay for TR.
Pay for uniform.
Pay own hotel on training.
No meals.
No water.
No job security.
Dubious tax practices.
Forced to use 'company' accountants.

The list goes on. Nobody denies these things exist so please, in the nicest possible way, how is this chinese whispers or disinformation?

Aside. I think you have to admit Slim brought it upon himself. No 'ganging up' just multiple reactions to his somewhat over-the-top behaviour.

Gents,

as a Mil Pilot watching with interest I must say that this has possibly been the best thread I've viewed in years!!

Mods: can we allow Slim back as he's so much fun?!

Flinty: you're single-handedly keeping my morale up in this crappy job market; keep it up!!

"He started it":

Yes, but like a prat you rose like the grayling to the bait instead of sitting among the cool stones at the bottom of the pool and mouthing politely.

In my opinion, the pair of you behaved like a pair of bookends.

Sometimes the best course of action is to sit on your fingers and keep your council.

I only take the bait when there's fun to be had. Somehow I think I'll be leaving yours bumping along the bottom, heading seaward

Mikehotel,
'Anti Ryanair' thread??? Are you serious? You're making the the mistake of thinking that I'm even interested in Ryanair. I made my choices over 20 years ago and they didn't include the likes of Ryanair............I ploughed my own furrow in a different place.
For the record people like myself and Flintstone are in the minority in what we choose to do for a living so your 'ganging up' comment is utter balls, along with the other dross you speak - 'undisguised vitriol' etc. Ha ha ha, keep it coming, you're priceless.

JW411, clearly you haven't appreciated whats gone on here and the HUGE outing of of a fool who speaks before thinking, Slim has let himself down beyond belief - so you can join him in bumping along the bottom out to sea.......bye

Yes he really is. But he'll be allowed back in.

Someone has to cheerlead Ryanair and tell us all we should be grateful for a job.

And he's good at it.
