...well who knows what will happen? It will be 'slightly more' yes, since we will soon be due at least an inflation-level payrise and potential harmonising of payscales between the two constituent airlines. Until that happens though, the basic, year 1, SFO salary for a Thomas Cook pilot on the old TCX T&Cs is £47,210. I guess that since the advertised requirement is for 500 hours you could join as a year 1 FO (<1500 hrs), in which case the starting salary is currently £36,366.
As part of the ongoing dicussions between management and the union with regards to the merger, the issue of new joiners has been raised with no decisions made as yet with regard to the contract they will be offered.

OK, couple more questions
With >500 hours on type (757) but a few hundred hours short of a full ATPL, what would be the starting salary offered?
PPJN has a separate FO / SFO scale for thomas cook, but not for My travel?
What's the pension, ppjn shows nothing for thomas cook, 3% employee + 14% employer for my travel?
What is a typical 757 roster for gatwick and stansted? out and backs? or trips / bullets?
Mainly day flights? night flights? varied destinations or the same timetable week in week out?
How long before 767 is on offer?
How close to the airport does one have to live? what is the standby requirement for time from call to report, and how likely is a call out on standby days (i know this is a 'piece of string question', but I know some people have never been called in some airlines, and others are getting called all the time)
Does the 10-15 years to command ballpark sound sensible at the moment? seniority list based?

Not sure where you get the suppositions from Emu, without a full ATPL its SO salary upgrading to FO , SFO after 3 years or 4000ish hours, regarding pension it is more likely that the TCX package would be offered by the company as they pay less that way.

torque2 my 'supposition' came from the fact that it says it in black and white on their recruitment website...
with regards the pension I will admit that I am not sure over the state of play

Summer-only working is available on the short-haul operation. I believe it is 80% of the pay year round but is more like 7 months on, 5 off now.
The booking of leave, days off etc has now been simplified by adopting MYTs system allowing you to access a spreadsheet and book your leave/days off there and then instead of having to wait months to see if you have been successful or not.
BALPA is well represented. Over 80% membership I believe and a powerful tool in negotations with management. Too early to tell if the new management is going to try to screw us on T&Cs but I would imagine so as most airline managements try to these days don't they ?

Hi,
Having spoken to the flight deck recruitment co-ordinator, the joint company is looking to recruit aprox 30 FO's on a permanant contract, however this my well change.

Londonmet, where do you get your info from? I'm curious, what makes you think that most of the posts available this summer will go to CTC cadets? If the company are looking for type rated pilots, why would they suddenly employ cadets with little or no experience, possible for the sake of saving a few pounds.

ramjet,
Inside info. Just that I know of the courses that will be going there and from a rough guess there's about 8 per course, min. If there are then a total of 24 pilots being provided from CTC out of their total requirement then it fits to suggest that a lot of their requirement this year will be provided by CTC.
It's not really a more expensive route actually. From what I know of the scheme that is, please correct if i'm wrong.
