Thomas Cook /My Travel Recruitment?
I thought they were laying off approx 100 Pilots ?
What's with the Ad's in Flight international? :hmm: BR. |
anyone got any info on rough take-home for a year 1 FO (757), choice of base? or allocated? typical months roster? etc.
|
Take home would be around GBP2800
Roster: 10 days off in 28. Weekly published roling roster for 5 weeks ahead. They will try to get you the base you want. Good luck ! |
Probably one of the best companies to work for in the UK now...good luck with the applications;)
|
You'll find detailed payscales on their site, it's alongside apps form.
|
Applications had to be in by the 31st of Dec. Lets see if they manage to get what they are after.
|
31st December?
...My copy of Flight says entries in by 31st January 2008...?!?
Did I miss it altogether? Anyone get acknowledgement of their email? |
website says 31st dec 2007!!!!:ugh:
|
If your interested I would send a CV anyway. I somehow doubt they got many applicants.
|
can anyone shed any light on promotional prospects for someone joining now as an f/o??
|
How long is a piece of string?
10-15 years to command. Maybe more, maybe less. Depends on expansion/fleet reduction. Difficukt one to answer. |
What sort of hours requirements are they looking for please? I would normally check it out myself, but for some reason Thomas Cook is coming up as a banned webpage at work! Must have scantily clad ladies as advertising on the front......:E

Quote from website
Pilots recruitment update posted14/12/07 Type Rated A320 and B757 FO Vacancies Following the successful merger of MyTravel Airways and Thomas Cook Airlines UK, the new enlarged airline, to be known as Thomas Cook Airlines Ltd, has a limited number of permanent positions available for TYPE RATED FOs on the A320 and B757. Applicants should have a minimum of 500 hours on type. ONLY Pilots who meet this criteria and who wish to apply should send their CVs to [email protected] by 31 Dec 2007. hope this helps.. |
Great, thanks very much for that mac23. Guess a type rating on the PA28 isn't going to cut the mustard.....!
|
Can we expect non rated recruitment in time? Is the merged entity a TRTO?
|
Yes and Yes. 757 and A320 and A320-A330 CCQ TRTO held.

Pay Scales?
Have the 2 different pay scales been integrated or do they remain independent? If you apply for a My Travel Position (Base) do you get that if successful or could you end up in a Thomas Cook position (Base) and vice versa, if you applied through a different website?

There are still two diffrent pay scales (at the time of posting) though this is still being negotiated, any new employees will be on the MYT payscale, T+C etc... this is due to MYT being the host AOC for the merger. Base list have already been published in the company and although there are still some changes that are likely to happen by the time the recruitment and training has been started all bases will have been merged together and both companies will be acting as one. As for applying i would advise applying to the one in the advert as mentioned in a previous post. |
1)can someone clarify the montly takehome after taxes for someone who join with an atpl? Figures for mytravel on ppjn look outdated. 2)Anyone could shed some light on the type of roster flown on the 320? Overnights? 4 sectors days? single days off? any form of pbs? Any chance to get 5 days off in a row to get home every month? 3)Do you get staff travel with alitalia or any other italian airline? 4)Time to go on the 330? 2) Random rostering with routes that depend on base, in the summer flying will be 99% in and out of base with no night stops. 99% of flight are 2 sector (some 3 sector days on routes with have fuel/payload issues). Days off are normallys in blocks of two's possibly three's, occasionally the will roster a single day off, no chance of 5 in a row in the summer however winter is much quieter so it is possible. 3) Staff travel department is good so probably but not sure. 4) At the moment it is fully crewed, however this is just as changeable as everything, no set time to get on the aircraft as done on seniority. Hope this has helped FE |
The payscales on PPJN are a little bit off, since they're from a few pay rises ago (2.6% then 0.9% then 4.7%). So compounding that to get the current rates multiply the PPJN ones by something like 1.0839. A Year 1 SFO then becomes £47210, which my favourite tax calculator reckons will give you £2800-odd with let's say £200 quid a month allowances to add on too...
