If you come to the dash, welcome to the world of random landings! Wet runway dry runway, crosswind/no crosswind, small flare, long flare, it's in the lap of the gods whether you get a smooth landing or not!!!
MVE - Not necessarily, those of us that prefer to use flap 15 (and the correct technique of course) manage to nail it 90% of the time. Flap 35 = lap of the gods as you say.

Sorry to be off topic by the way.

Perhaps you are right, but for some reason I prefer flap 35? My comment about random landings was tongue in cheek fellas.....all the best!

Getting back to the original question - difficult to answer - as I am one of the last to turn out the lights. So in a nutshell - lots! And still more to (officially) come!
JF wake up and smell the manure!

Regarding the original question...
I was told in the crewroom today that from the March 2006 BACon seniority list, which does not bear the names of those who have already handed their notices in (and there have been dozens), an additional five Captains and twelve First Officers will be resigning during the coming weeks from BHX alone - most off to EZY in August but also BMI Baby, BMI Regional, Cathay, GSS and corporate.
Some have even got the timing perfect so they can collect their golden hellos before promptly departing. Even better timing for a few guys who were about to resign from BRS, but were beaten to it by the closure of the base. This presented them with waived bonds and some redundancy pay.
There is a significant core of people staying with the ship though, the word is there'll be enough.

The Shop Floor - hopefully you mean the March 2007 Bacon list - which is remarkably shrunk from the 2006 list?

As you say - many more still to leave - so your "word there'll be enough" depends on "which routes" are left. MAN seems to be decimated as far as over 1 hour routes is concerned (except MXP/FRA). And loads of 6 sector jet sectors on traditional turboprop routes

I can't speak for the other bases but if you walk into the crewroom at BHX you will find it very difficult to find anyone who has not got a job elsewhere. There are a few that are staying for personal reasons but most people who could get jobs elsewhere have. I was in crewing the other day and was told after the middle of April we have only enough 145 crews for 20 aircraft and that is just the start.

The sad thing from Fly Be's point of view is that a lot of this was avoidable. A little bit less attitude and more positive communication earlier on would have secured a fair number of BHX crews. Uncertainty coupled with a degree of heard (don't know if that's the right spelling I'm from Wales) mentality lead to the situation the company now finds itself in. "Sorry we can't talk about your future's until the deal is done" just made most of us far too nervous.

On a positive note I thought the info Fly Be sent me the other day was far more useful and instructive than anything I've ever received from BA ! Having information to hand is a real first. On paper at least AIMS looks like a better system than CIAO and I like the airplan layout. There will be teething troubles. Ground handlings going to be a big one. Good Story. Swissport handler to 145 captain "Do you want the bags in the front or back hold". "Can you see a front hold ?" . "Yeah but do you want the bags in it?" "Well I'll tell you what if you can find a front hold put the bags in it and if not put them in the back !" . I'm not trying to be smart but just recognise that the 145 is a new type to Fly Be and there will be misunderstandings about what it can do.

As for the crap about SOPs I'll repeat what I say to everyone who thinks they know better. "You may well know better, you may know for a fact they are petty or not suitable HOWEVER it is their train set and if you want to play with it you follow their rules". I don't agree with a lot of SOPs on the 145 but I stick to them because that's your best defence ! I may not agree with a lot of Fly Be SOPs but I will apply them because that's what they are going to pay me (for about a month) for !

Good luck to all and I hope this goes as smoothly as possible.

Frenchy my old mucker I know you read Pprune.
Now put this in your pipe and smoke it.
You remember that crap$y irrelevant little base at BRS where no one wants to fly from (apparently)???
You know the one you dumped two days after being given BACON????
You know the one that you had to dump because you had not got enough pilots???
Well you heard it here first.
Ryan Air will shortly be announcing the opening of a base there and hitting it with four, maybe six shiny new aircraft.
Also looking at another one. maybe two new Southwest bases..........Bournemouth??..Exeter??
Now where would they possibly find a load of experienced jet jockeys looking for a local employer?
Mate....you deserve everything you get for taking your eye off the ball......
