Well said Captain H. After being displaced from base and no command opportunities available with Bacon, things can only get better!?? The best thing at Bacon was the scheduling agreement, we must all work together and negogiate another good one with Flybe.

Bermuda - bit of both
ba.com today...
A policy has been issued for customers affected by BA Connect services cancelled as a result of the forthcoming sale to Flybe.
These changes are planned as part of the sale of BA Connect to Flybe and involve routes and services which will be cancelled post-acquisition.
All passengers will be offered alternative flights with Fly be or British Airways mainline to minimise inconvenience, or offered the choice of a full refund.
BA Connect and Flybe apologises for any inconvenience caused
All of the routes being cancelled are substantial loss makers for the current BA Connect business. These routes need to be cancelled to protect the on-going viability of the business.
Post-acquisition, Flybe will become Europe's largest regional airline, offering 152 routes to 36 European destinations, flying from more UK airports than any other airline and offering passengers competitive fares and high levels of customer service.
There are 90 odd routes from all BACON stations in the list of cancellations on ba.com

There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ships smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I cant hear what youre sayin.
When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse,
Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look but it was gone.
I cannot put my finger on it now.
The child is grown, the dream is gone.
I have become comfortably numb.
The deal's been done, our council has sold us short, they'll be no ballot of Rashers.
I am feeling Numb, but let's welcome in the NextGenerationAirline

No wonder they weren't bothered about pilots leaving - look at all the cancelled routes.
Looks like BRS is headed for a rapid exit, loosing MXP, ZUR, MUC. EZY picking up Milan and competing on GLA, EDI, CDG. It'll be a short lived blood bath.

Perhaps the quislings on the CC can now look forward to their new found commands, or perhaps they will enjoy flight ops management positions within FlyBe, just like the clown from mainline a few years ago. I can feel a 1% pay rise coming on. Thank f*** I'm leaving this sorry mess behind.

Wonder what will happen to the AIRCRAFT that operated these routes?
We know the crews are away, but I must admit I thought the a/c would be redeployed to new routes (or something).
So they are dropping all these routes. Are the a/c that flew them going back straightaway?

Flybe will have more than a loss to cope with if this deal goes through.will need massive cash injections to keep going long term.I give the new outfit 18 months max, probably the first major failure in the lo cost market, then who am i to speculate ?

skianyn,
that was exactly the scenario I was warning of when the BACON BALPA website coincidentally was accidentally deleted!
How can someone who is licking their lips at the prospect of a command on the RJ be able to actively defend the T&Cs of those going to flybe?
I wouldn't go for the payrise just yet... it's always handy to have the insurance policy just in case, and you want the BALPA numbers up in the new company too.
Nice to be out of the sh!t, but I hope it all works out for the guys stuck behind.

The phrase 'Not with a bang but a whimper' springs to mind, especially for us on the ground

From the easyJet website :
Latest News!
Our pilot recruitment needs for 2007 are close to being met and we are anticipating that further course spaces will not be available until at least October 2007, from which time they will resume again on a monthly basis.
As a result of this, we are offering some pilots, who have already had assessment dates confirmed, the opportunity to postpone these over the next few months in order to prevent a large gap opening between selection success and start date with us.
This will not affect all pilot applications though as we are still seeking Direct Entry Captains for our bases in Madrid and Milan and will continue to offer rapid assessments to those suitably qualified for these bases.
Please note that if you have recently submitted an application and are currently waiting for an invitation to attend assessment, there is likely to be a slight delay until such time that future courses are confirmed.
So it looks like the only winners in this situation have been easyJet who have managed to crew their massive expansion against all the odds. Well done WW for handing the biggest bonus possible to your biggest competitor and destroying two airlines in one go.
There is no future under the flag anymore.

this won't be the only disastrous decision from willie walsh.I believe BA needs far more inspired leadership, but we all know he will be allowed to blunder on regardless.the consequences of his mistakes,as you point out,is the ruin of Baconnect and crippling financial strain on Flybe,on top of the chronic crewing shortages, will prove disastrous as the ambitious summer schedule looms ever closer....what a tragic time for both airlines.
