B-HVY,
Passed the 2 month mark now. I don't really know how many are in the pool, but I believe there are some waiting 5 months now, maybe longer. I'm curious of when we will hear the first people being offered course dates in 2012. It should be soon as the 3 month advance call for handing in notice to previous employer is coming up! Can't wait!
Good luck to those going through selection at the moment!

Do mention where I embarrassed myself - so I wasn't correct about my assumption of what vs1 meant specifically to the airbus - I accepted and thanked the poster for the correction. I get things wrong every day - I am human - it's not embarrassing.

YYZ_Instructor,
ditto. Quite curious to see when the first few will get start dates and what fleets for (but I expect Airbus SH first as people transfer onto LH from the "Euro fleets").
I've been told the wait is now due to internal transfers/bids which should be finalised by September (this month then!). That will determine requirements for 2012, I am told.
A previous poster mentioned that all poolers waiting for SH courses should expect dates between Jan and March 2012, so as you say, not long to go now for some before that 90-day notice period...

I think B-HVY sums it up perfectly. Stop feeding Black and Brown with amo for his pointless posts.
He is hindering what is a very useful and informative thread. Let's all just bite our tongues as otherwise it will drag on and on.
As all of us who have undertaken the BA selection know, this thread is a goldmine of information, despite it's length. I think it is about time we showed consideration for those who have not yet completed the selection by avoiding all this egotistical nonsense. Trawling through this thread is hard enough work as it is.

Hold Pool
For those in the hold pool I've been in now since early May and still not heard a peep (just passed the 18 week mark). I'm 320 with 3300hrs now and an ATPL, I would love a LH course but expect a 320 course around Jan or Feb. So hopefully not long now!
Good luck to those in the selection process, hold poolers hopefully only a couple more weeks to paddle!

Burnt what bridges? On Pprune?? Do us all a favour, grow up and go away. Funny old thing bitterness!
To all who are in the hold pool hang in there or nearly there, courses will be resuming in Jan (heard on good authority today), over 200 to be taken on apparently next year, but don't quote me. They have to sort next years bids out first and the recuitment team is a little overwhelmed at the mo! Lots of positive things happening at BA!

Just got the cockpitweb software previously discussed. A lot of stuff on it but am I right in saying the number deduction + red square exercise is similar to actual test. Plus I have seen conflicting stories of whether the cross bars work in same direction as fd's. On this software bars move up you push down to lower them and right to move them right is this as in the test.
Thanks for any help
ps whats background of guys going in October, any type rated?

Any news for those who haven't heard either way from the application stage yet? I know a fair few guys & gals who applied but have not heard either way. I assume they are either waiting to see what calibre they get from the current bunch or there is no room left at present for interview/sim? I suppose if we haven't heard anything negative then we are still "in it to win it".
Thanks

Thanks B&B
Shiny ten,
if that's true, it's going to be a huge waiting time, could probably take the next lucky guys in the hold pool only in the second half of 2012....
I really hope things will go in another way.... For the best of us.
This wait is driving me nuts!!!

BA Hold Pool
I've been following the DEP thread for the last few months and am aware of the rumours that courses will be offered hopefully soon for early 2012 but I was hoping someone in the know could answer a couple of questions. Firstly, do they tend to offer one month at a time ie January courses offered soon then february courses offered next month and so on. Alternatively, would they look to fill all courses for Jan to March in one sweep? Secondly, how many guys/girls does a course constitute?
I've been in the pool for 6 weeks and believe I am about 90 something on the list (told there were 100 in the pool mid-august) and I think I will more than likely go SH. Along with everyone else, I'm trying to gauge when my likely start date would be. Can anyone shed any light on this or at least give some thoughts based on previous events?

TDODAR is a decision making tool - BA prefer TDODAR, I've used something similar in a previous (non-flying) career and there are many out there with different names, but the process is not-dissimilar
Basically
T - Time - how much time do we have
D - Diagnose - What exactly is the issue?
O - Options - What are our different options for dealing with it
D - Decide - Select the 'best' option (this is an important step - selections should be based on some sort of criteria - not just a best guess or coin toss!)
A - Action - Action what needs to be done
R- Review - Very important - go back and review whats been done. Sometimes a good review is a 'negative' one. Actively look for things that could contradict your origonal analysis.

T - DODAR
As has been stated above T-DODAR is the method currently preferred by BA for managing in flight emergencies.
The breakdown of the elements given by 757 Driver is correct, the only mild amendment I would suggest is the A.
Normally it is not just to "action" but to "assign" tasks with the expectation they will be actioned. This therefore allows the P1 to manage the situation by assigning tasks to not only his/her P2, but also the whole crew, including ATC! It's almost the same but slightly broader brush.
As has been mentioned the most critical part of the process is the review and assessing whether the initial decision was in fact the correct one. If it appears not to be...back to the start and T-DODAR again. It may seem cumbersome but it does work, both in the sim and in practice.
Hope it helps, and good luck to those in the process.
