I applied on August 4th but haven't had a reply yet - other than "your details are currently being reviewed and we will contact you as soon as we have made a decision about your application".

Two months on, have BA have stopped looking at applications?

T5 to Cranebank

Hi.

Anybody know know if there's a bus service from T5 to Cranebank, as i'll be flying in on the morning of the assessment. Strangely none of the directions on the application website give directions for people flying in.

Cheers,

Han.

Weekdays there's a staff bus ( the BA1) that you might be allowed to use if you show your paperwork, but even if you get on its goes right around the airport via the A4 and it can take half an hour at least to make the journey.

A better bet might be the 423 bus to Hatton Cross, Cranebank is then about a 10 min walk (max).

http://http://www.londonbusroutes.net/times/423.htm

However personally I reckon it's quicker and less hassle to use the Underground: T5 has it's own station, so just take the tube to Hatton Cross and then the same walk as above.

Failing all that there are a few local cab companies (e.g LHR Cabs) who would probably do a one way run for, at a guess, around £15.

Han,

When you log in to BA recruitment and click 'Heathrow - The Rivers, Cranebank' it advises that you may use the BA1

A British Airways courtesy bus, the BA1, runs to and from Hatton Cross Underground Station every twenty minutes. You should aim to be at Hatton Cross at least 40 minutes before your appointment. You must show the bus driver a copy of your assessment confirmation email to be allowed to travel on British Airways courtesy buses.
Regards

Cheers guys. Knew you could get the staff bus from Hatton Cross, so looks like the best bet will be the underground to Hatton Cross then the staff bus to Cranebank.

Regards,

Han.

Get the tube from LHR to Hatton Cross. Then walk to The Rivers. Look on Google Maps (put Hatton Cross in the search). Look for the Eastern Perimeter Road, (which goes past the Jurys Inn and staff car parks) and walk to the mini roundabout which is opposite the end of the car parks. You'll then see a barrier across the road to stop cars (2nd exit on the mini rb), but you can walk past it and onto The Rivers (the little security hut where you sign in is about 100m or so on the left after the security barrier, which I think is called Kenny's Gate, but I could have got the name wrong.) No more than 10-15 mins walking from Hatton Cross.

Alternate options are the Hotel Hoppa bus to the Jurys Inn, then walk, but the Hotel Hoppas are not that frequent, or the BA1 staff bus (which your paper work will get you on), I don't know where in T5 that goes from, but it does go from Hatton Cross to Cranebank.

For completeness, for the potential bus users:

I don't know where in T5 that (BA1) goes from,
Bus stop 21 at T5. Out of the Terminal, cross the first bus lane and 21 is towards the southern (left hand) end of the next lane. It's "labelled", there's usually plenty of crew waiting for the car park bus and plenty of "suits" waiting for the shuttle to Waterside.

Words of warning -

1. BA 1 only runs weekdays.
2. The BA1 runs both clockwise and anticlockwise around LHR, check with the driver that he/she is going to Cranebank, otherwise you'll have detour of the cargo area, a very long journey....and see T5 twice!

Good luck.

Last I heard from speaking with a TSC at LGW, is 35 to join the 737 Q1 of next year, and a similar amount to join the 744. Those joining the 737 will be a mixture of type-rated and non-TR.
