Possibility of Embraer's in LGW eh?? Would save me a type conversion if I was offered it..... Firstly the assessment awaits!

By the sounds of it... a few of us will possibly have to wait until Novemeber? I heard all the slots in October were filled already.

I don't really mind waiting, I know there is a lot of talk about seniority etc, but lets be honest, if you are lucky enough to get into BA your pretty much set for life, and things will eventually work out for you so i'll happily wait my turn! :-) Good luck to all still waiting.

Can anybody who has recently attended selection please detail a brief rundown of exactly what the 'current day' selection programme involves.. Ie interview then maths test then computer test etc etc?

Many thanks.

So if you have 777-300ER time you might get a shot at the 777 or 787? Great if that's the case but like you said who knows?

Regarding the micropat .... is the left and right axis the same but up and down reversed? Does anyone know which of the three crosshair modules on the on the Cockpitweb program is similar to BA? Ta

Never say never in BA. If it suits BA you could go straight onto the 777.

I think it is sent out with the contract after you get a course date. Fairly standard stuff - along the lines of the questions on the form for your class 1 medical renewal.

Thanks,it's just that I have a minor heart condition that the CAA are happy with to the point of not having any limitations on my medical. I've heard BA are more strict tgan the CAA. What I would not want is to give notice to my current employer to be refused by BA on medical grounds. Any suggestion on how best avoid this scenario?

It may be best policy to ask to speak to someone at BA prior to the form being sent out. At least someone would be aware of your condition at an early stage and would be able to pass professional judgement. These things almost always complicate matters and cause delay. I'm sure there will be no problems; however its best to lend these things time, especially when a prospective employer is concerned. I would imagine BA conducts some sort of medical examination prior to offering a contract as well?

There's no medical examination. The form is sent out with 20 or so questions, asking for any history or current conditions, including any food allergies. You have to give the name of your doctor, and they get a medical reference. Once you are in the reference process you will then be told your references are all ok. I'm not entirely sure they actually always get a medical reference, since it could be based on your answers in the medical form. Best to contact BA health services and ask.

Does anybody know how representative the 'Assessment Day' Maths questions are of the real ones at BA? They're absolutely rock solid, especially without a calculator!

if you search on my previous posts there's one buried in this thread somewhere about the maths questions.
Sorry I haven't got time to add any more here, but now I work for BA I've now got loads more free quality time than i used to have, which I spend running my kids to a million and one sports clubs!

Same here Shinyten, little more than a month since their e-mail and still waiting...

Nutwrencher, do you know if there is any criteria BA is using to call for the assessment? Or maybe is it just the usual first call first serve?
Sorry guys I am little impatient.
Cheers

I believe,

but I could easily be wrong, that dates will only be available to book one month ahead of time, i.e. a Jan assessment day will only be released for booking in December. This is because most pilots only get their rosters one month in advance and BA want to avoid masses of people phoning up wanting to change dates when their rosters are released if they had been able to book assessments 2 or 3 months in advance.

Regards

Buil4Speed,

It varies, unofficially anywhere from the next morning up to 10 days.
I got mine the next morning at 10am via email. I had a friend who got his
3days later. There is no set standard, more likely is how busy they are at the time.

Goodluck

I am sure it will brand me even more bitter than before but does it not appear that BAs prize selection is nothing more than disorganised chaos? If they don't have the people, time or manners to provide a response and feedback in a reasonable timescale then they shouldn't be the prized goal of so many desperate souls on here.
