For the guys waiting you also have to factor in that it is the middle of August and school holidays, so many of the people over at Cranebank are probably on leave. When the schools go back there will probably be a big push, for example, no new courses have run for at least 2 weeks I think, but don't quote me!

I stayed at the Jury's Inn, crew rate is £37 R.O., I booked one week in advance by phone. Walked to Braincrank in 10 mins.

I just jumped in the pool, the water's warm, don't mind the swim, how long do you reckon guys?

B-HVY, congratulations

I joined a couple of months ago and they told us during induction all courses filled to early 2012. Subject to change of course but I'd plan on a course spring next year. Possibly some DEPs' required onto 747 and 777 next year, all subject to the usual caveats. It will be worth the wait!

BitMoreRightRudder,

Was that information for new swimmers joining the holding pool now?

I've been in the pool since end of May and still waiting for a start date...

Hi,

Spoke to BA last week and they confirmed that all courses in 2011 are full and expect a lot of courses for those in the holdpool from January. At the moment there is about 65 swimmers.

All fleets are available but short course are preferred so if you have a type rating for what they are looking for at the time you may jump ahead of those waiting however all those in the pool should be on courses by March 2012.

The latest round of recruitment shouldn't affect the 65 in the pool at the moment unless any widebody guys make it through.

Gonna be a long swim, better top up the water wings!!

oh and for those waiting to hear back about applications, I waited 7 weeks for a reply on my application, 7 months for an interview slot with 1 week wait for the outcome, 2 months for a sim slot and then 4 weeks for an outcome from from that. I think I'm pretty much at the bottom of the list so looking at a March start date so from application to course it will be 18 months.

Only 65 in the pool! that's surprisingly low, given the amount of recruitment so far

Think there was 120 positions from the recruitment drive from last Oct. Maybe a bit less. There may not have been enough suitable applications hence why they broadened the type experience. Number of applications and number of applications successful are in no way related. You've only gotta look through these pages and count the number who were and that's only with those who use pprune.

Get A Head for the Sky

Sorry to change the thread guys..

Was wondering if anyone had bought the book "Get a head for the Sky by Mr.A.Pliot??

If you are thinking of spending £25 for a photocopied bounded book do not bother

Anyone know where I can get a refund?? On the website there seems to be no way of contacting this company for one unless I am blind??

Anyone in same predicament please let me know.

After spending so much on flying is 25 quid really going to damage your pocket any more?

No, nothing, seems 5 to 7 working days is not true after all. Not a great start for a company really if it does not live up to it's first promise.

I personally think it's disgusting.

I assume you will be withdrawing your application and will re-apply to an airline that lives up to its promises.

Just out of curiosity, does such an airline exist....

maybe they are trying to weed out the impatient sarcastic ones ?
I would add a smiley, but find them rather juvenile.

Sorry

Dear 111boy,

I am sorry for offending your sensibilities. I am just surprised at how some people post their displeasure at how BA conduct their recruitment process. I have no doubt that they try to meet any timescale they suggest to hopeful applicants, but I also have no doubt that on occasion, due to unforeseen circumstances or just pure logistics, they are unable to meet that deadline.

I am sure that you find this very frustrating, but seeing that BA is, for most people, the best gig in town, probably worth showing some patience . We are all going through this process together and I wish everyone going for it the best of luck.

I tend not to use smilies (is that the spelling?) when posting, but on that occasion I was trying to re-iterate that I was being lighthearted. As to whether they are juvenile or not, not my call, but you are obviously entitled to your opinion.

@ GatbusDriver.

We like the common sense good blokes so hopefully you do get in.
Fingers crossed from me.

Interested in BA approach to rotary crews converting to fixed wing.

Anybody have any more news on course dates? I've been swimming for a couple of months now... Anybody got course dates coming up, and if so when did you pass the sim? Any news appreciated.

The "more news in September, expect courses in early 2012" info has been mentioned more than once both on here and by other people I know going through the application so hopefully there's some truth to it!

Best of luck to everyone going through the process.

Hi mate,

yeah very much so, no nasty surprises at all, everyone I met was very friendly and professional. I was put at ease from the start and that really helped. The questions were all worded slightly differently (as I expected) but the themes remained the same. (again as I expected!) Leadership/Teamwork/Problem solving/experience of a situation when.....

etc etc etc

Bottom line is that I left having enjoyed my day! I really did! Strange but true!

Good luck!
