Interesting aircraft - what have you seen on your computer today?
London City of course really hit. 25 knots from the SW doesn't sound too bad but people have ended up at Stansted, Birmingham, etc. Birmingham is a bit surprising because their runway orientation is absolutely at right angles to the wind, which is the same there as here. Meanwhile BA from Dusseldorf got within a few hundred feet of the runway, went around ... and went back to Dusseldorf.

The go-around 747 passed just north of me on the down wind portion of its circuit - at around 5000' surprisingly visible under the clag. I did catch the Singapore 747's arrival on BJ TV - I didn't know the inboard flaps could vibrate that much and stay attached to the wings...

Saw a United 757 heading over into Europe this morning - haven't seen/noticed one in a long time.

The Bell 47 is an irregular regular along the Thames over the last 2-3 years. Always nice to see and hear, somehow endearingly friendly. Yes 'Radar' controlled, but also 'Klinger' control perhaps as the replacement on the series.
The CAVOK An-12 was impressively noisy today, seemed to have been in Nigeria a day or so ago and now likely headed to the US etc. They certainly get around!

Incredible. N926NA and N927NA, pair of 60-year old NASA WB-57 Canberras in formation over Mexico at FL500 chasing the eclipse. About 400 metres apart according to FR24.

Most aircraft can exceed their rated altitude during an eclipse. Tidal pull.

Looks like QRA Typhoons heading out of Coningsby south towards London at 41000' and 570kt... just passing Potters Bar...
Well first one was trailing, may have been a second but couldn't see it. Fairly loud once passed. Now heading SW. Passing Alton.
Ah! Tanker standing by over Cornwall, presumably a practice alert!
Edit: it/they have gone discreet, presumably in contact with the tanker which is stooging WSW at 20000' over Bodmin Moor. Would be a fine sight from outside the Jamaica Inn were it not shrouded in drizzle...

Yes I saw that, well actually heard it and then looked above a saw it in a rare bit of blue earlier. It intercepted an FRA FA20 that was reentering UK airspace from Lyon(?) in France and then escorted the FA20 back over Wales to Coningsby (I think). Every day for those oop north, but for the city slickers a relatively rare sight and sound.

Interesting one, BA312 A320-NEO to Amman, got as far as Basel, turned round descending to 28000' and has just returned to LHR via two orbits at Biggin then five at Ockham.
