Indeed you are correct.
Called up and announced an emergency, i saw everything get put into the DAYNE/MIRSI/ROSUN hold while it lined up on a 20mile final. Landed on 23L (i think). Possibly got towed back to stand aswell

I heard it over the radio on Sat @ around 1345, I thought it was ZB517 A320 that had the Hydraulic problem??
He was talking like he had a problem with Hydraulics, And would need to be towed off the runway.
Happy New Year 2008

Well....
There was definitely an LS 757-200 on approach with nose gear doors down, well after gear had locked down.
This was about 13.45 Saturday.
Was hard to tell from my position if he was on 23L or 23R at that stage (5-7 miles from TDZ) but they sometimes switch across quite late in emergency situations at MAN.
Didn't notice any following aircraft to see if there was another with hydraulic issues.

Just had a bit of fun on the SBS.
G-CELD went around while on the 23R ILS then started going round in circles over the STOCK/DENBY area. Apparently couldn't raise his flaps above 10degrees. Landed now and all is good!

Loud a/c at MAN late on Monday 14th Jan?
Just heard a very loud noise which sounded like an old-style jet airliner departing MAN. Time was 23.35z and I think they were on the 23s at the time.
Only similar noise I've heard recently at MAN post Concorde has been Tu-154s or the odd VC-10.
Anyone able to shed light on it? It was a prolonged noise, so not an arrival or an exposion in my opinion.

I've still got it.
I'm a fair way from the 23 thresholds and it was very noticeable here. Guess the wind must be straight at me.
There's likely to be a few complaints regarding that one, I'd say.

747 at MAN 25/2
Bit of a long shot, but does anyone know to which airline a 747 belongs that departed MAN at about 19.35 last night? I was pax on a flight immediately after it, but I couldnt make out the airline markings on the aircraft and was curious as to whom it belonged.

I have a feeling it might of been hellenic imperial airlines that sometimes operate for Lybian airlines or it might of been one of the many cargo (cathay Pacific, Jett8, Great Wall, Air China) 747s you might of seen (pls correct if wrong).
I was in work around that time of night on monday and i think it was the Hellenic aircraft, but i was some distance away!!!!!! who knows!! hope that helps a little.........anyone with more info please feel free to correct me as im not certain im right anyway! cheers and good evening.

Ah, yes, it was Hellenic Imperial Airlines! I could make out the 'imperial airlines' bit of the name, but it wasnt particularly clear. Ok, next question - what was it doing at MAN and was it PAx or freight? Is it a regular visitor? Looked to be very light on take off as it appeared not to use much runway...
PS Thanks for the link to ringway reports - have had a look on there before but I couldnt remember the name of the site

Yes it is getting regular at MAN now, Visited about 4 times now.
Normally visits at the weekend, Visited last Saturday also.
A short T/Off sounds like an empty Posn Flight.

Had a similar experience in the 734 I was pax-ing in. Only about 30 or so on board, take-off run & climb performace felt a bit like being in a fast jet compared to usual, quite impressive!
The 742 is flying under its airline's flightnumber at the moment, possibly doing pax charters on routes between Greece, Larnaca, Stansted and Manchester.
LAB seem to have a more regular schedule now with their great looking CRJ900s.
