It's not a delivery flight. There is currently a Thai AF B737-400 (ex Aer Lingus) operating out of Scandinavia, I understand a senior VIP is attending college there (or similar). Presumably he's having a daytrip to Manchester

Heard 1 1/2 hours ago that a MYT 330 had burst 5 tyres at MAN and has requested a large defuel so they can jack it up!!!
It was supposed to leave around 1130z after engine tests and high speed taxi-ing but there must have been a major problem!!!
Any more info?? anyone
And how the hell do you get "5" blown Tyres?

1. land on a really really really short but incredibly wide runway
2. do an autoland with a non-functioning autopilot

Back in January four of six tyres on a BM flt ex London burst as it landed at LBA as well, it was said that one explanation could be that the aircraft's anti-skid system failed to work.
It was certainly there most of the afternoon and late evening. It was facing northwards near the 23L threshold. It was puzzling as to why it was facing this way as 23 was in use and it appeared to be facing the wrong direction.
When will they use 23R for Manchester morning departures
Please don't acuse me of NIMBYism, it's a genuine enquiry.
Does anyone know when Manchester traffic will revert to using 23R runway for morning departures!
I love watching the planes, but the noise at 5.10am is awakening Mrs G, who can be grumpy at thebest of times, even more grumpier early morning.

Thats a bit like saying when will they stop using the M1 motorway and revert to using the A1.
The new runway is here to stay and the afternoon closure is likely to go one day.
The only time the old runway is used for departures is during LVPs (low visibility) and for repair work or blockage.

Gingernut,
As far as I understand it, any aircraft departing at 0510 in the 23 direction would already be using 23R. 23L doesn't come into use until around 0600.
If however, there is a night-time maintenance closure of 05L/23R, then 05R/23L will be used at night. Local advertisments would be put in the press to advertise this. I can't see anything in the current NOTAMS to indicate a night time closure is currently in force.
MAN777 is quite right. The demand in the morning peak exceeds the capacity of the single runway operation on 05L/23R, so unless there is a major slump in demand in the peak, you are stuck with departures from 23L (or arrivals on 05R) from around 0600 onwards.
Hope this doesn't make Mrs G even more grumpy...

All Manchester movements are listed in a publication called Flight Check. You may also get what you want at www.ringwayreports.co.uk.
If you let me know the time slots you are interested in, I will try to PM you the details.

Jet 2 hydraulic issue at MAN?
Thought I saw a Jet 2 757-200 on approach to MAN around 13.30 Saturday with nosegear doors down (didn't see the main gear from my position).
Assuming there was a hydraulic issue, but that it wasn't too serious?
