Thanks for reposting your comments Danny it was a pleasure having you visit the Island.
Arrangements from our end for a mini PPRuNe Bash are progressing nicely and we look forward to your return visit.
The golf course developer arrives at the Resort March 2nd for a week to assess the potential etc. He's built courses in Whistler, Hawaii and Palm Springs to name a few so he's pretty well qualified.
Any chance you can join us?

Attended a party with a status Caymanian about a week ago and he feels very certain that gaming will be introduced in the Cayman Islands in the not to distant future.
What I found very interesting is that he's saying the first Casino will be a Mega Resort that will be built in the EastEnd very close to your Resort!!!

Yeah, I heard that one too although I heard that there will also be a casino down on 7-mile beach as well.
I figure the possible golf course in the Eastend would be a lot bigger deal as it could probably be the best one on the island with all the land out there.

Madam Speaker, there are numerous investors who are ready, willing and able to develop our islands. It is therefore important for us to develop a Economic Development Plan, which would give the assurance about Government's intentions and support.
Among the specific projects that are being considered is the construction of two to three luxurious tourist resorts.
One resort will be located in the Western Peninsula and another in the Eastern End of the Island. A third is currently being considered for Cayman Brac by investors. These resorts will cater to international sporting events, such as golf tournaments and will have spas and other facilities for wellness.
Madam Speaker, as you aware, the tourism management policy has indicated that a moratorium should be placed on tourism accommodation development on Seven Mile Beach.

Ritz Carlton - Four Seasons - Rosewood Hotels
The news gets even better....... on top of the new Ritz Carlton currently under construction the Friday Cayman Net News reports that both Four Seasons and Rosewoods Hotel chains are very interested in coming to the Cayman.
I wouldn't be surprised if one of those famous hotel chains is heading to the East End especially if thy're planning a golf course ..........which with controlled development will be extremely beneficial to owners who purchase before that kind of high end development occurs.

I thought you guys were involved in a possible East End Golf Course?
I do hope the Government properly monitors development and controls it so that end of the island remains beautiful.

We just had one of the principals of a well known golf course development company down to the Resort for a recent visit.
We flew him over several properties which would total more than enough area to construct a 27 hole championship course. He was very impressed with both the island and the potential on our end.
Currently he's working on a conceptual masterplan for the golf course. This was initially planned as a stand alone project but now in view of the latest announcements regarding a possible mega resort etc. it's being discussed as a possible component of it.
He also thinks that several other high end Hotel Management Groups he has previously worked with will be interested in a presence in the Cayman so we're jointly pursuing those opportunities.
Needless to say we're very pleased with this and several other recent events which we'll be announcing shortly so check back for updates.

I also noticed last week that Morritt's Resort has erected as sign across the street from your Resort saying they will be building a commercial strip mail anchored by Fosters Food Fair.
Certainly more good news for you and that side of the island.

NHL Hockey Stars & Deep Sea Fishing
IPG is in second stage negotiations with Full Contact Fishing a nationally syndicated TV program on Rogers Sportsnet & Leaf TV in Canada soon to be in the US . Last years Nielsen ratings was fourth and this year they expect to be #1 with a national North American audience.
The shows premise is National Hockey League players fishing in exotic destinations Recently they shot four episodes in the Bahamas with guys like Mike Ricci, Chris King, Wendell Clark,Marcelle Dion and Rick Vivre.
They're always looking for new and exciting destinations and approached us to shoot 4 shows to be hosted by us at Castaways Cove.
There are many interested players who would like to fish in the Cayman Islands so we basically have our choice of a number of stars. Tenatively we're thinking of May but that will depend on the playoffs etc as we want to have at least one Vancouver Canucks star so check back for firm dates etc. if you've ever wanted to meet and possibly fish with a sports celebrity.

OH the Relative Solitude of the East End

Congested traffic on the roads of Grand Cayman continues to create difficulties for residents and tourists alike, and the problem is likely to get worse before it gets better.
While most of the tie-ups occur during the peak, "rush hour" time periods, areas like George Town and West Bay Road are experiencing heavy volumes of traffic just about all the time during daylight hours.
In response to the growing problem, the Public Works Department started working on the National Road Plan (NRP) earlier this year. However, with several large new developments scheduled for completion over the next twelve months, demands on Cayman's road system will increase dramatically before any aspect of the NRP is implemented.
Other contributing factors include a population that doubled over the past 20 years, creating a higher demand for vehicles, and a thriving local economy that has enabled more and more people to afford vehicles.
The problem with traffic along West Bay Road is much more severe. As the only thoroughfare for Seven Mile Beach and West Bay residents to get to George Town, the slow-moving traffic irritates nearly everyone who lives in those areas.
A senior consultant for Deloitte & Touche, travels West Bay Road every morning on his way to work. He says his driving time has doubled over the past two years. "It's affecting the quality of our lives," he says, "We never used to have road rage here."
