VNA Latest Terms
So who saw that email about upgrade terms to 787 or 350?
Am I right for example A321 to 787 is 62500 USD repayable at
3K per month taken from salary on top of 20K up front plus D risk
of failing final check. Maybe I need an eye test.

Tough news for the B777 and -in the near future- A330 crews, they will actually have to invest around 50K to keep flying in Vietnam...
I really hope that conditions for the transition improve, of course, it all comes to how many expat pilots actually accept the current terms...

B4 the email I posted about I saw an earlier one sent by crew pointing out the crappy terms.
As you say will depend on how many
will sign up or can politic the way around the Payment or move to other 777/330 ops.

I don't really see how this will work, I know they are very short of pilots especially on the 320, so how are they going to attract people with this terms? Is this paying thing only on long haul as a way to keep/get people on the short haul fleet?

European downfall
Well people will pay cause the amount of pilots leaving and coming here form europe is huge.
The rouble is down so lot of russian here.
Whats the alternative?

This is the way things are here and all agencies PARC/DPI/Rishworth dance to their tunes.
9 months here and I realised that this is not the place I want to be,dont like something you see,leave.I just quit.
I dont believe that its right to stay and keep complaining.

This Airline is catching up with getting organized.You have to do lot of self service in the meanwhile.
Any parameter exceedance /Incident they will deduct from pay some amount depending on severity.No corrective training unlike other airlines.
Its there in your contract,so read it thoroughly.
Their work ethics is something I could not put up with,But at the same time there are guys here for years ,so I guess its what you are made up of.

I know of colleagues -and even myself- that when falling into a Level 1-2 or even 3 parameter, we have made a written report of the ocurrence/incident and no punitive action has been taken.
I do find VNA a good place to work at, obviously, there is no perfect job, but if you can cope with the culture and accept things how they are done here, you'll enjoy your stay.

Can you still smoke in the cockpit? I loved my two years flying at VNA on the 6/3 roster. Most of the pr**ks were Central Americans or the rare Indian, the rest were great including the locals....But all of my batch hated Hanoi! 7 of us of the course, zero remained after 2.5 years...

Yeah, from what I heard from up on the road smoking still happens in the cockpit as long as there is enough quorum to keep it in the family.
Hanoi base is still the working horse of VNA and VJ, the revolving door doesn't stop spinning over there but that doesn't seem to be noticed by management who still tries to cut costs on those bases in transport and allowances.
Kimono, don't you worry about those 6 expats, they must be dying to cross the road to VJ

If rumor is true, perhaps inducement to make the rest of the 330 guys pay VNA to keep their jobs, by paying to go on the 350/787.
Hard sell for guys, as they haven't even provided the new salaries, so guys may never recoup the cost of the move and not many jobs (realistically none, maybe Norwegian, CSA and HNA all 787 which requires over 60K for training plus bond plus 50% pay to make that transition).
Maybe ANA will offer them a job on the A380

Last year while I was still in Cambodia a bunch of VNA Local's used the 3 month
contract to get out of VNA to go VJ. The DFO at the time also left
for VJ that way. Salary was main reason and lies about the 350 upgrade at the time helping them.

All I can read from the press is a loss of cabin pressure on the 350, which can happen to any aircraft of any airline and happens rather frequently somewhere in the world. Do you guys care to share any more details you may know, as you seem to be pointing fingers at the crew (perhaps rightly so, if there is more to the story). Thanks.
