Inquiry

Got all the total numners, and about 2200 PIC in the 737NG. Would this qualify for a DEC in the 777? The rest of my PIC was in a CRJ. I ask because I see some agencies advertising with only 2000 PIC in the NG and others saying 3000 PIC in aircraft over 50 tonnes including 2000 PIC in boeing AC. Any info would be apreciated, thanks guys!

Ishihara book

I have the same problem, slight red/green deficiency. Been flying for 15 years no problem but that book, damn it ! Passed the Chinese medical before and flew in China 2 years, but still worried that I'll get an examiner that's not in the mood. FAA allows for you to take the CAD test at least. They are still using the Ishihara (color dots) test?

A320 to B777

I hear that CSA Is working on a new programme for well qualified 320 drivers + 4000hrs pic to go on the 777. Can anyone, anyone? Shed some light on how the 320 to 330 or 737 to 777/787 conversion is going, specifically the training time, how long on training pay, time off during training. I hazard multiply those times by 2 or 3. Input would be truly appreciated..

what about us 747-400 drivers? I have the times but fly the -400 as PIC and 747 isn't on the qualifying list, ie, 737, 757, 767.?
everyone knows the -400 is closer to the 777 than 75/76....?

47 is acceptable.

There is a ex KAL 47 driver at CS currently completing the NTR course.

Overall training times for both 777 and 87 are running between 4 and 7 months before being released fully to the line - the CAAC is very slow at moving the paperwork.

Exclamation Anyone bidding for 777 AMS or FRA base?

Hi all,

I am offered the position on 777 but of course they don't know when euro bases might be available.
I heard 35 expats were already hired on 777. Does anyone have figures on how many of them bid for AMS And FRA?
This is the key element for me to accept or not the job as I don't want to commute to CAN. If it appears that already 6 or 7 guys wait for the same base, being the 8th would allow the opening.
I believe that they don't fool us on their desire to open those bases, the only real problem being that they get people from all around the planet And europeans probably only account for 30%, making it slow to get the number stated above.

I keep on asking CSA And my agency about those figures And also get the contacts of guys interested in any euro base to try to coordinate our bids as I think most of us don't really care which base as Long as it is in Europe.

If any of you have insights on all that pls PM me, I have 1 month to make up my mind....

Regards

Congratulations first of all in getting through.
I think it's a bit risky to join the group and running on such low number to form a base. Anyone that bails will jeopardise the entire group. CSA will not hesitate to send you back to CAN base if the arrangement inconvenient them, and rightly so.
Your plan should involve worst case of staying in CAN, otherwise stay away for your own good.

Thanks for the advice,

I know it is a bit a leap of faith but I got news that 1 agency alone had 6-7 guys bidding for AMS And we are 2 about to join with the same bid.

I wait for figure confirmation anyway.

Regards

Speaking to the guys on the 87 they seemed to think that there are ..

4 for AKL
4-5 for Europe
and 5-6 for YVR

There is apparently a meeting about further base decisions shortly.

Nothing for sure but its progress.

I am a B777 TRI and thinking seriously to join CSA for various reasons through Parc. Appreciate anyone kind enough to PM me your experience or opinion about CSA. Happy to buy few beers in return.

Thanks in advance.

CSA commute

I would like anyone who is on a CAN base doing any commuting for the 777 to pm me. I would love to know what rosters are like and what is commuting like from CAN to your home country. Anyone doing the 60 hour roster also?
Thank you.

787 training backed up. AKL either open or very soon. JFK an option from Aug and will likely open later this year. At least 5 YYZ area guys want JFK so c'mon you Canadians and apply! Just a few more needed for the YVR 787 but again the training backlog is slowing things up. And the pass rate on the screening is improving.

JFK for the 777 no?

There is talk now that the 777 will take the YVR route eliminating the 787 possible base any info on that?
